Where you’ll be

Greenbush, Michigan, United States

Oscoda is ten minute drive south with grocery stores, restaurants and is home to the Au Sauble River as it empties into Lake Huron. Canoe and tube rentals for a fun day on the river are available at Oscoda Canoe Rental. A marina and fishing charters are available too (Wellmans Party and Bait shop in Oscoda is a good place to go for fishing gear and info on local charters as well as fresh fish and best butcher counter around.) Kava Sunrise cafe in downtown Oscoda has great coffee and pastries.
The Huron Manistee National Forrest is a short drive west and has great hiking biking snow shoeing and ski trails depending on the season. Visit the Lumbermans monument and Iargo springs and hike the dunes high banks trail along the Au Sauble River in the National Forrest as well. East Tawas is a 25 minute drive south -great restaurants and shopping. Stop by Suzie Brews on main street for delicious specialty coffee, Marions on the corner for Kilwins ice cream and The Ben Franklin novelty shop for the kids - all musts. Both Brew Krew and Oconnors also in East Tawas have unique gifts and clothing. Walk the marina and visit the Tawas Lighthouse and swimming beach with concession stand on site.
A mile further south in Tawas you'll find the best pizza around -wood fired -at the Tawas Bay Pizza Company. The peach and prosciutto is my favorite. A few blocks down is Boathouse Beer and Boozery which has great cocktails and delicious food.
Alpena , a bit further drive north has more fabulous restaurants and is home to Austin brothers brewery and shipwreck tours with glass bottom boats!
All along US 23 north and south of the cottage you'll enjoy scenic views of Lake Huron!
