Guests love this home’s spaciousness for a comfortable stay.
Balmor Landing provides a charming Cape Breton experience, staying in a 150 year old Nova Scotian homestead property. Tucked away on 4 rambling acres of private, landscaped gardens, complete with apple, cherry and plum orchards, goldfish pond, large front & rear wooden decks, fire pits, and 100 feet of private rugged coastline overlooking a calm ocean inlet, It’s the perfect spot for kayaks, canoes and other water sports.

The space
Enjoy spectacular views over the water from the house, rustic beach and large front deck. The gardens offer a tranquil escape to explore, enjoyed from the large rear terrace, take a stroll through many fruit trees, discover the ponds or simply find a spot to picnic and lose yourself with a good book.

A wonderful spot to hide away, however perfectly located 5 mins from the 125 highway as a base for your Cape Breton adventure.

The house offers two large reception rooms off a striking main hall, a large kitchen, two bathrooms (one with shower and one with claw foot roll-topped bath).

Accommodation is accessed via the main staircase (or the butler’s/pantry stairs from the kitchen) and consists of four bedrooms (1 large king room with dual aspect water and garden views, two double rooms: one with water view and one with garden view and a twin room with garden view).

The house has been decorated throughout in neutral tones and benefits from the character of all the original carved woodwork and floors.

30 Mins to Louisburg, 45 Mins to Baddeck, 15 Mins to Sydney, 9 Mins to the Newfoundland ferry terminal, 20 Mins to the Unesco World Heritage Bras d’Or Lake Biosphere Reserve, 45 Mins to the Cape Breton Highland National Park and Cabot Trail. If you're a golfer, there are many courses near by which we have listed in our Host Guest Book (on the profile under 'Where you'll be'), along with many of the National Park walks and local attractions.

Hi, we’re Daniel and Paul. Without exaggeration, Balmor Landing is our dream home, which we are happy to share with you. Paul is from North Sydney and Daniel is from England. Coming ‘home’ to Balmor is our happiest place in the world. It is surrounded by good & helpful neighbours. (You’ll see them walking their dogs in the morning. In fact, they’ll probably wave to you.) Balmor Landing is a calm place to enjoy the beauty of rural life, but also connects easily to all the major Cape Breton attractions. From an Airbnb perspective, our greatest ambition is to ensure you enjoy your stay, so please don’t hesitate to ask questions, or mention your needs. Have a wonderful experience at Balmor Landing. CO-HOSTS Paul’s wonderful parents, Ted & Moya Marsh, will be your local contacts if you need anything dropped off to the house, or require a visit. They are both retired school teachers and live in the area. They just might be the nicest people you’ll ever meet. You’ll probably encounter Ted briefly each day as he feeds the fish who live in the pond. During the ‘golfing season’ he usually stops by for a few minutes a couple of mornings a week to do his feeding chores.
