Guest access

Our place is an old building refurbished from the beginning of last Century with 5 bedrooms, 4 of them set one beside the other from the front of the building towards the end. The 5th bedroom is at the front of the building as the first of the four mentioned, both with balcony. Joaquin Torres García Room is one of them.
It has a big luminous hall in the center of the building where we offer the breakfast and ideal for several activities. It also has a tv room. At the back of the building and inside you will find the modern part of the building, the kitchen. The kitchen is big enough to coordinate a cooking activity for all the guests. You will also find 2 complete bathrooms. Finally the backyard, with the BBQ, the 3rd complete bathroom and the laundry. Up stair is the room of the hosts.

Interaction with guests

My husband and I, we live upstairs with our cute and little dog, you will have total independence if you want, not only because the rooms and common areas are big enough but also because we facilitate the keys to go in and out whenever you want.

Loved this place. The host Victor was absolutely lovely and made us feel at home. The room was big and comfortable with lovely high ceilings. Really close to the historical district. Would definitely recommend! Thank you Rosina & Victor :)

We really enjoyed our stay in Colonia. The house is lovely and well located. Rosina was really quick to respond to our questions, even though she was away when we stayed, and I can imagine why other reviewers have commented that she is an excellent host. If you stay whilst Rosina is away just be aware that your stay may be different to what is implied in the listing, for example we only got breakfast on one day of our stay, and this was much more basic than the picture in the listing. This was not a problem as there are plenty of shops nearby, but was not what we expected when booking.

The room was very spacious, and light, if a little chilly at night. Rosina was a brilliant host and she really made me feel welcome in her home, offering me food, lending me her bike, and being very patient with me practicing my Spanish

This is a gorgeous old house in Colonia between the historic district and the commercial district. Very walkable, near many restaurants and little shops. Rosina was out of town during our stay, but her lovely friend checked us in, and we had the place to ourselves for almost the entire week (it was off-season). There is a beautiful courtyard in the back of the house. The house does get very cold in the off-season months, as the ceilings are very high. Recommend to buy wood if you will be inside much. Overall very nice experience, I hope to return!

Stay at Rosina's for an authentic stay in Colonia in a nice historic building close to the old town, beach and the ferry terminal.

The house is really beautifull and the front side rooms are very spacious and nice! The bed is comfy with good matress. With 1 block away from the central plaza and 5 min walking from the old center you can already figure that the house is in the perfect spot to discover the town. Rosina is very friendly and helpfull. I also liked her little dog! In general everything is very clean with spacious rooms, kitchen and livingroom. The only thing we really didnt like was arriving there. A man who worked there was very rude as we entered the house when the door was open and while saying 'Hola, Buenos Tardes'. He said that this is not the way it goes in Uruguay, we had to ring the door even if its open and you see people inside... Then he started about someone could be so scared that he could point a gun at you.. Because of this we didnt fully enjoy our first day. Fortunally Rosina was very nice and after a while we finally felt at ease in the house..

Response from Rosina:
Thanks for your feedback Elias. I apologies for this missunderstanding. What he really wanted to tell you is what I allways tell to my guest, that is that people here in Uruguay we are not accustoms to enter to homes without ringing the bell even the front door is open, becasue is taken as violating privacy. It is different in a shop where people enter and go out without that permission. Sorry again.

I grew up in Colonia so I am a witness of the modern part transformation and how it coexists with the Barrio Histórico that is a world heritage. I love to host people at my home. I feel it is a family heritage because my father used to host sailors from around the world that used to visit Colonia in their sailboats. I love to travel so whenever I can I try to take advantage.
I also love cooking, playing piano, practicing sports like speed roller skating as well as looking for old things in special places.
I am a Chemical Engineering and International Chef, so I am planning to explore the Home Bistro concept with a suitable timetable to combine lodging, meal and good atmosphere.
