Peace and quiet

This home is in a quiet area.
A former chicken shed; the hen house is individual, light, and offers spacious, comfortable, well-equipped accommodation in a rural location. Ideal for exploring the area, for couples wanting to enjoy a quiet, romantic break or a great bolt hole to work or study - you can close up the shutters, lock yourself away and no-one will know you are there!

The space
We converted this chicken shed for ourselves as we needed a temporary home for at least a year while we renovated our house. We ensured it was spacious enough for ourselves, 3 cats and for my husband to run his business. We ended up spending 18 happy months in the Hen House and were sad to move out. We loved it so much we thought others might enjoy it too!

There is plenty of space to accommodate a travel cot (not supplied)

On arrival guests will find pantry staples of tea, coffee, olive oil etc. Local apple juice, milk, butter, delicious, organic homemade sourdough and freshly-laid eggs from our chickens are provided for your first breakfast

Guest access
There is table tennis in an open barn which guests are welcome to use and where you can also store bikes
Plenty of outdoor space with tables and chairs, deckchairs, parasol and a BBQ

Neighbourhood highlights

We are in a great location to explore the three glorious counties of Gloucestershire, Herefordshire and Worcestershire.

The busy market town of Ledbury is a 15 minute drive away with individual shops, twice weekly market, good places to eat and a poetry festival held in July.

You can walk out from the Hen House and explore miles of footpaths through the beautiful Leadon Valley. The magnificent Malvern Hills are a short drive away and easily accessed from the deer park at Eastnor Castle.

In May the RHS Spring Garden Show is held at the Three Counties Showground at Malvern, and there is a smaller garden festival at Hellens Manor in June. There is an excellent theatre in Malvern which has a varied programme of music, shows, talks and often pre West End plays, and also includes a single screen cinema

Cheltenham, half an hour away, holds festivals throughout the year; the Gold Cup Racing in March, Jazz April/May, Science in June, Music June/July and the renowned Literary festival in October. There are some excellent restaurants and good shopping there too.

There are plenty of places to eat locally from pubs serving good, locally sourced seasonal food and a single estate vineyard, the Three Choirs where you can take a tour, taste the wine and eat in their restaurant. The Butcher's Arms has been taken over by new people and is no longer Michelin starred, but the food is still a very high standard.
