The place was spectacular, wonderful stay! We stayed at Collingwood Guest House for NYE for 4 nights, with all my family, a group of 8. We had an amazing time with my family, for their first time in Africa. David and Pat were very helpful and accessible guests. They gave us a tour of the garden, horses and other animals. It was very nice. They are extremely helpful and provides great information about the city and what to do in Cape Town. The house was exactly as expected. Great rooms decorated with charm, bed linens, beds and showers. And an amazing view on the mountains and the wine lands. Would definitely recommend this house and come back when I'm in Cape Town again. Thank you!

David and Pat are very gracious hosts at their farm high up in the Durbanville Hills. I stayed two weeks with them in February 2013 when I was working on a project at Tygerberg Hospital. It was great to return to such a relaxing atmosphere after a day's work, surrounded by horses, peacocks, and the host's collection of dogs and cats. The house looks out to a beautiful panorama of the Hottentot Mountains. The rooms are spacious, new, and clean; the living room is amazing, with a high thatched roof ceiling. Shops and restaurants are five minute's drive away. The hosts make you immediately feel at home. It is a great stay for guests that are laid back and want to have an 'out of town' feel while they are still in immediate striking distance of Cape Town.

Thx for your kind words Stuart. How's your cold doing? Hope to see you next time with Callum and/or family. The yearlings are starting to look the part and will be ready for the sale in April.

I'm married to Pat who is from Devon England. I was born and raised in Alberta. We are now living on farm outside Cape Town. I have three sons all living in Calgary Alberta and doing well.

The first and most important thing in my life is my relationship with Jesus Christ, then its my wife Pat and my family and friends. We watch just about all the Super 15 rugby games with friends followed by a braai. We mountain bike over the Meerandal Wine Estate. We travel Southern Africa a lot and the most fun was jumping into the Devil's Pool at Vic falls...what a buzzz! A Game Park (Kruger, Pilansberg, etc.) is always fun, especially when we see the big cats. The form of relaxing I like best is listening to modern country music...the lyrics are so good...things of the heart. I normally read for information or factual history novels. I do, however, enjoy a good romantic comedy. I good laugh is so refreshing.
