The space
Cabin Ishbel is our beautiful wooden chalet in West Wales, which sleeps six people. It is the perfect place to spend a long weekend or a family holiday, nestled in the peaceful Welsh countryside.

A mile from the village of Cenarth in Carmarthenshire, Cabin Ishbel is a cosy peaceful place to spend a long weekend or have a family holiday. It has three bedrooms - a double, a twin, and a bunk room - so can comfortable sleep 6 people.

Cabin Ishbel is our home-away-from-home - we stay there ourselves several times a year; we even held our wedding party there. The cabin is one of our favourite places to be and we'd love to have friendly people come and visit.

LOCATION

Cabin Ishbel nestles in the trees on the edge of Penlan Holiday Village, a small holiday park of Scandinavian-style lodges in a beautiful woodland setting just outside the village of Cenarth. The park has a playground, and a dog walk meadow. The park is currently under new ownership, and at the moment the bar/restaurant and swimming pool are closed.

The cabin is in the heart of rural West Wales at its finest. It's a great launch pad for country walks, and the Pembrokeshire National Park is just 10 miles away. The river Teifi runs through the village, with opportunities to kayak and fish. The nearest beach is 10 miles away, with all the gorgeous secluded beaches of the Ceredigion and Pembs coast lines to choose from.

You're in a rural location, so public transport is limited - the cabin is best reached by car. However, there is an hourly bus service, Mon-Sat only, which will take you between Cenarth and Cardigan, or Cenarth and Carmarthen (the nearest mainline train station).

FACILITIES

The cabin has a well-equipped fitted kitchen, heaters in each room and an electric shower. From the kitchen and deck you can look over the Preseli hills while you have dinner, or a BBQ. The lounge is super cosy, with a stove to help keep the evening chills away.

The cabin is very much a self-service experience - sadly, we will most likely not meet! We will send you a key code, and you can just let yourself in. Our cleaner will have made the beds up for you in advance - just let us know how many people are coming, and which beds you'd like to use. We will also provide one towel per person.

You'll find the kitchen cupboard stocked with tea, coffee, condiments, and cooking basics such as oil, ketchup, etc. There are supermarkets within driving distance, and a shop at the local petrol station.

Well-behaved dogs with considerate owners are most welcome. We allow one larger dog or two small dogs. Dogs aren’t allowed on the sofas or beds, so you need to bring your own dog bed. Dogs have to kept on leads around the holiday park.

Guest access
The entire cabin is yours! Three bedrooms, a large lounge, a kitchen diner, and two decks - one in the sun, and one under the roof. The cabin is on the edges of a beautiful woodland holiday village, which has a dog-walking meadow and a children’s playground

Other things to note
We choose not to have a tuned-in television, as the cabin is a place to unwind and disconnect from the world. But we have tonnes of DVDs and a good selection of board games!

There is no Wifi available at the cabin, and very little mobile phone signal - embrace the digital detox! Mobile signal is poor in the area - in particular the O2 network is bad but EE/Vodafone are better.

The cabin can get quite chilly even in summer; after all, it is a simple wooden building in a forest. The heating is good and lots of blankets are provided, but do bring warm clothes and pyjamas!

We always like to hear about you and who will be coming to stay. The cabin is funky... shabby... creaky... full of character. If you're looking for luxury, pristine conditions, modern decor and perfect paintwork... that's not Ishbel! But if you're up for a fun, retro place to stay, with squirrels on the roof, and years of good memories in the walls, then drop us a line.

We're Sam & Freya. We live in London, but we've had our little cabin in West Wales for three years, and it's the perfect getaway from city life. We love the area so much, we got married there in April 2013. We hope you'll enjoy staying there too.
