We were a group of 7 people (6 adults plus 1 year old child), staying for 3 nights over Christmas 2015. I am Canadian, from Vancouver, and I was accompanied by my Mexican-born partner, and his family visiting from San Luis Potosi.
First of all, the house is exactly as pictured. It's very clean, very modern, very comfortable for sleeping. You'll definitely need a car (which we had) to stay here, as the house is located in a gated (safe) community in Mezcales, so you'll need to drive to almost everything, i.e. beach, shopping, restaurants. The house is well situated within "Refugio Laguna", as it is the closest house to the pool facility, and also to the jungle-like edge, so very quiet indeed.
The drawbacks were fairly minor, but numerous, and should be taken into account. The kitchen (exactly as pictured) was not well equipped with either plates/cutlery/cooking materials. Our stay, being over Christmas, we needed to purchase pots to make hot chocolate and ponche, as there were none to be had. The pans were very old and worn, but we made due. We had to purchase plastic cutlery and disposable plates, as there were only 2 large plates in the cupboards (way less than needed for a house accomodating 8 people).
There was never any hot water on the second floor (where all the bedrooms are), which meant no showers for my Mexican in-laws, except for the ones under 25, as the water was never warm enough for their liking.
The jacuzzi pictured on the top floor (note the image with no water) should be disregarded, as we could never get hot water there, and it would have taken hours to fill anyway, we did try.
The TV only offered a preview channel for the satellite provider, Dish. Not a big deal, we weren't there to watch TV, but would have been nice for my partners' parents.
The "man in charge" (Dario) who toured us through the house upon arrival was never reachable by phone. Francisco, our host, indicated that he had reached Dario after a day of trying, and that he was due to come by to assist rectifying some of the issues above, but he never showed (remember it was Christmas time, so likely that was the reason).
In the lead-up to this stay, I repeatedly asked Francisco for details, such as address, how to get keys, phone contacts, and was answered with "don't worry!" replies every time. I was worried as this stay involved not just me, but my in-laws, including my partners elderly parents, in their late 70's, and I guess I should have trusted my gut feelings a bit more.
Francisco did offer to compensate me for a free night on my next visit. I do appreciate the offer, but won't be returning.
Bottom line - it's beautiful! And I feel like I got my money's worth. But it needs outfitting/servicing more, and it needs a reliable "man in charge".
