About this listing
A beautiful holiday villa for up to 6 people built on the hill in picturesque Kalk Bay village with views of the sea, harbour and mountain and easy walking access to the amazing shops, restaurants and beaches that this quaint village has to offer.
This is a brand new luxury villa built on the hill in one of Cape Town's most beautiful suburbs to take optimal advantage of the views, the weather, the beaches and the charming village of Kalk Bay.
The house was designed and is newly built with deep love and care to be the perfect family breakaway.
The villa has all the modern amenities - appliances, Satellite TV, broadband Internet - and is comfortably furnished with quality beds and everything else you need to make your vacation stay a bliss, all while maintaining a calm, casual and relaxed atmosphere where you and your whole family can truly relax and enjoy your stay.
The house has three bedrooms upstairs. Two of the rooms have double-beds and one has two single-beds, so you can comfortable accommodate 6 people, as long as some are willing to share.
In addition there is a pool-side "studio" downstairs with a comfortable sleeper couch that can take 1 adult or 2 kids, making space for a total of 8 people.
Guests have the house, the parking garage, garden and swimming pool to themselves and come and go as they please, including the garage for parking, garden and swimming pool.
Drive in through the electric gates and park securely inside the garage before entering through the front door.
Within the house there are the usual appliances, including a gas hob, all from quality brands. There is also satellite TV and broadband Internet.
The villa is in the heart of Kalk Bay village with dozens of shops, restaurants, bars and coffee shops, a convenient train station, magical beaches and even a real working fishing harbour, all within easy walking distance.
Interaction with guests
Someone from the area (ourselves or a friend) will meet you when you arrive to show you around the house and help you find your way around the village.
Once you're settled in we'll leave you to yourselves to enjoy the house and your holiday, but me and my family live less than an hour away in the Cape Town CBD so we can be there in just a flash if there's anything you need.
Haunt of poets, artists and writers, Kalk Bay is Cape Town's unpretentious creative zone. Its bohemian mix of craft shops and galleries — most of them on the same stretch of road — is made all the more alluring by the town's cobbled streets, historic cottages and brightly coloured fishing boats.
Tired of shopping an culture? The False Bay coastline offers swimming, surfing, sailing, hiking, biking, a day at the beach or a myriad of other outdoor adventures, all within a short walk, ride, drive or even train ride from Kalk Bay.
Kalk Bay is quite simply the perfect family holiday destination.
Kalk Bay is just 42 minutes drive from downtown Cape Town and just 50 from Cape Point.
Many of Cape Town premier tourist spots including Muizenberg Beach, Simons Town, the Boulders Beach Penguin Sanctuary are easily accessible via bicycle, train or car.
NOTE: As of September 2015 there are extensive roadworks on the main road between Kalk Bay and the next town South - Fish Hoek. Fortunately these are far away from us so they won't bother you, but they do have the effect of causing traffic to back up into Kalk Bay and can make it quite slow to get into the village ... especially during busy times. Guests should be aware and plan any travel into the village from the Cape Town side accordingly.
Kalk Bay itself is a tiny town and so its myriad of restaurants, bars, coffee shops, antique stores and shops are all within easy walking distance.
To get to the village consider walking down Clairvaux Road then left onto Boyes Drive, up fifty meters then right on Anderson (the cobble stone street). These is a quiet and scenic route to the heart of the village at the Lever Road park that avoids the noise of Boyes Drive and hustle of the corner at the bottle store.
Other things to note
We started building this house in 2014 as the perfect seaside home for our family, but we unfortunately aren't able to move there because of our work situation. Until our circumstances change we are living in the city and hoping to rent our new dream home to other families who will appreciate it as much as we do.
This is our dream home and the place we hope to one day raise our family, so we expect our guests to treat it with the same love and respect that we would.
At the same time its a holiday villa and furnished as beach house so a little sand or water and the occasional spill or crack isn't going to destroy it.
We want you to enjoy the house and so our only firm rules are (1) there be no noise after midnight, (2) that you respect our neighbours by keeping the noise down from 10pm and (3) there be no smoking in doors.
No illegal stuff either ... but you knew that already.

I'm a clinical psychologist living and working in the Cape Town CBD. My husband and I rented a home in Kalk Bay for years before we had to move to the city for my work. We loved the easy-going village atmosphere, friendly people and outdoor lifestyle of Kalk Bay and have always dreamed of moving back to raise our family there. Last year we got the opportunity to build a dream house with just the right balance of comfort and style that would be the perfect place for us and our kids alike, but unfortunately we're not able to move back there just yet. Hence we are letting the house out to travellers and others who just need some fresh air, ocean views and a place where they can really kick back and relax.
