The house is new, clean and well maintained. The location of the house is excellent, a mini market nearby, 2-3 minutes walk to Mavros Molos beach, a few tavernas with good Cretan food near the beach, 5 minutes walk to the bus station that takes you to Chania town, Elafonissi, Falasarna and also to Kissamos port where you can take a ship to the beautiful island of Balos.
We met Tula, Stella, Nikos and Ilias and they are wonderful people. Nikos handed the key to us and Tula left a plate of cooked beans, bread, cookies and cake on the table, a plate of Greek salad in the fridge, drinks and also a bottle of red wine.
The next day we met Tula and her sister Stella and they showed us how to eat the figs from her tree which were sweet and so good to eat that we fell in love with the fruit. We then went for a swim at the Mavros Molos beach and when we returned from the beach we asked Tula to recommend to us a restaurant with good Cretan food and to our surprise Tula and Stella cooked for us an impromptu Cretan dinner.
On our day of departure Tula and Stella cooked for us Pilaf and chicken for lunch. Just before we left, Stella plucked a big bag of figs for us to bring to Stavros.
We moved on to Stavros, Athens and we are now in Zakynthos, but I must say that our stay in Tula’s place was the best and most memorable. We learnt some Greek from them which proved to be very useful throughout our time in Greece. Tula and family are fun, loving, warm and very hospitable people and as such they are great hosts. A VERY BIG THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts, especially to Tula and Stella for all the food, gifts and your genuine and unrivalled affection for your guests, the epitome of Cretan hospitality. This has been by far the best of all our Airbnb stays. Amore amore agapi.
