Una casa comodisima muy cerca del pueblo y del mar, en donde pueden relajarse escuchando los sonidos de la naturaleza. una construcción en madera con techos altos, con áreas en desniveles y grandes ventanales que nos regalan esa brisa tan anhelada.

The space

It is a very confortable house, close to town and beach, where you can relax listening to the sound of nature and the ocean while you admire the birds, squirrels, butterflies, guatuzas and other animals that come to visit our friendly garden.
All this, happening just 50 metres away from the main road.

Guest access

It is a wooden house, with high roofs and open areas that enjoy a constant, very nice breeze.
It has a modern and well equiped kitchen, a "chll out area" with a sofa, TV, books and movies.
The bathroom has hot water, and you can enjoy the bathtub and relax while you look at the garden, the sky, the moon.
Room and dressing room are spacious, and there is another area good for reading or meditating on the upper level of the house, with a fantastic ocean view.
Last but not least, there is a beautiful deck, good for anytime of the day, and below it there is a little plantation of aloe vera, palms and cactus.

Interaction with guests

I live on the property, on a little house close to the Toucan Hill House. Therefore, Branca, Zaka (my 2 dogs) and me are close enough to assist the lucky guests of my beloved house, with anything that might be needed, but don´t worry, we are very respecful of our guests privacy.
I have been living in this town for 17 years, and I'd be glad to give advise, recomendations and tips to make your stay more confortable and enjoyable.

Other things to note

Montezuma is a little town by the sea, well conected and organized, with wonderful beaches, refreshing and astonishing waterfalls, and, also, incredible restaurants.
Also, for the yoga lovers, Montezuma offers specilized centers for yoga classes either in the mornings or in the afternoon. What´s more, at the Toucan Hill House, you will be able to practice whenever you feel the need to fill yourself with oxygen.

Florencia is a fantastic host and her house is everything we imagined it would be and more. Florencia and her boyfriend Ezekiel helped us get from Puntarenas to the house when we discovered one of the ferries wasn't working - they even picked us up from Cobano when we s arrived late. She also offered as much info as we needed to help us get about and make the most of our stay. The house is a fascinating design and build with the most incredible balcony looking over beautiful trees and wildlife - we awoke to howler monkeys every morning. Everything was clean and well presented and easy to use. Montezuma is a great little place with some awesome beaches, great restaurants (recommend Las Palmeras and Cocolores) and although this house is at the top of the hill it's just far enough out of the town to be really quiet but close enough to walk in. Loved every minute here! Thanks Florencia (and Ezekiel!)

The moment I arrived at Toucan Hill House I knew I'd made the right decision to book a place a little further away from town. Montezuma is a beautiful place to explore but Toucan Hill House is such a magical peaceful home you'll also be tempted to spend a day or two enjoying its peaceful tranquility with nature for your company. I extended my stay, I wish I could have stayed longer. I definitely hope to return. Pura vida ❤️

Great small house to stay in above Montezuma. Amazing view with the sounds of nature all around, monkeys and tropical birds always nearby! The house is clean and has everything you need for a relaxing stay. For those who still need access to technology, the internet is good and there is also a TV to watch DVD's or connect your laptop. You are located around a 15-20 minute walk from the village or 5 minute drive in a car. The walk down is simple but going up it gets quite steep so not recommended for those who don't like to exercise. There are also buses passing by every couple of hours or a taxi will cost you 2000 Colones.Florencia, the host, lives in a small cabin nearby on the same property, she is always smiling , friendly and there to help with anything you need!! I would definitely recommend Toucan Hill House for anyone going to Montezuma!!

Uniquely designed wooden jungalow with large terrace, surrounded by trees and birds. Very quiet, very clean and it has an amazing bath/shower to cool off in - 100% recommend this place for your Montezuma adventure! A nice 15/20 walk down the hill to Montezuma town and beach make it a great location. Toucan Hill House has a treehouse-like feel as it is surrounded by many trees making it comfortably secluded, and the viewing point from the mezzanine level make it great for spotting birds... you are literally immersed in Nature here. The property is designed and made to a high standard, the bed is comfortable, fans make it cooler at night, and there's also a good DVD collection! Supplied coffee and bottles of water on arrival was a nice touch too. Note - $4 taxi back from Montezuma town/beach definitely recommended although we did walk up the hill once to get the blood pumping!

What an amazing home! This is a unique and stylish house facing the sunrise with glimpses of the sea from the hammock hung in the roof space. You'll find the house on a quite side road off the top of the road that winds down to Montezuma town. It's not a walk into town for the faint-hearted (or more specifically back up again!), but it's only a two minute drive. The house has an excellent kitchen with a huge fridge, gas hob and small oven. There's a decent selection of pots, pans, plates and cutlery, and also fresh coffee, salt, pepper and other essentials. Wi-Fi is decent enough if a little slow at times, and there is a big modern tv with a computer monitor cable if you want to hook up your laptop. The bed is firm and comfortable, and the bath is snugly sunk into the floor of the large clean bathroom. There is a huge sliding door onto the balcony that really brings the outside inside (or visa versa). Would I recommend this? Most definitely YES!

Great place. Exactly as advertised. We lucked out and actually did see a Toucan on the tree off the balcony. Montezuma can get humid, but the house gets a comfortable breeze with the windows and doors open. One thing to note is that it is not very walkable to the center of town even though it looks close on a map. You can certainly walk down, but to walk back is a very steep slope and a little dangerous with cars and blind curves. Luckily it is very easy to catch a taxi from town for only 3000 colones. We walked down one night and took a cab back. We had a great time in Montezuma and would stay here again.

I spent over two weeks at Flor's place while working remotely and had a great experience. Remote workers, read below on wifi. The house: Beautiful! Bring a headlamp or flashlight as it is a bit dark inside and power could go out. The front porch is amazing and you will have fun watching the birds and monkeys for hours. It is in the jungle and is beautiful. I think it is one of the only options for a house like this in town. I felt very safe too (the town is very safe). Be careful using the bathroom faucet after turning off the hot water tank. It is extremely hot! Host and things to do: Flor was a perfect host. Tell her what you want out of the trip and she will arrange it, even if it isn't something super touristy. I wanted to learn plant-based cooking from a local chef, and she contacted two of her chef friends and I spent one day with each of them. They can even come to the house and cook with you there! This truly made my experience so special. She has decided to offer it to other guests since it went so well so just ask her! Might also be able to do a romantic dinner night with a private chef :). Very affordable. I cooked most of my meals and had just about everything I needed. Flor was happy to give me any kitchen supplies I was missing. She also did my laundry twice and cleaned the house. Might be nice if there was a yoga mat at the house, but I just used the blanket. Location: As you have read from others, it is up the hill from town. Most accommodation in town isn't that nice, so I'm still happy with staying here although it would be nice to have easier beach access. I did not like having to take a $4 taxi every time I want to go to/from town so I walked a lot. I'm very fit and some days it was a lot of work (hot days or when I had groceries). Often times people passing by in a 4x4 will offer to take you up the hill. Wifi: I put Flor's wifi to the ultimate test. I had several scheduled video calls with clients every day and it was very important that the calls were not disconnected. I only had an issue with two calls. It was a bit inconvenient that the router is in her house, but she was very quick to help when it needed to be reset and did everything she could to support me. If your work isn't as time critical as mine with set video calls, you will be completely fine. Ping speed around 15-40ms, download 4-5. Also keep in mind there are times the power goes out in Costa Rica. That happened once. All in all the place felt like home and I was sad to leave.
