We were amazed by the view when we got to the cabin! The Lyngen Alps are gorgeous and the scenery around the cabin is breathtaking. The host left many guides on hiking in the area that we found very helpful. We used the sauna and the grill hut and felt like true Norwegians. Heads up, if you are in need of Wifi, there was not any, but the idea is to unplug from the world so it worked for us.

Ronald's "cabin" was luxurious (which is why I use the quotes around cabin) and beautiful. The place is surrounded by spectacular mountain and fjord views, and it's located at the end of the road, so you can just walk out the door and access at least two trails immediately. We were there during some of the first glorious warm days of the season, and the snow was melting fast off the higher hills and mountaintops and filling the streams. We actually could not access one of the trails because the nearby rushing creek was too high to cross, but I imagine it's fine nearly any other time of year. We ended up hiking off trail along the creek up the hills and followed moose prints (including those of a very young calf) in the snow that was still present higher up. The views will keep taking your breath away. You have the sense that you could just keep on hiking for weeks in the wild, rugged mountains. We loved the adorable little grill hut, where we had some wine and a fire. The grill screen is kind of on its last legs, as the wire is weak and there's a hole in it (through which we lost a couple of wayward rolling food items), so I recommend bringing foil or skewers. I can imagine how cozy the hut would feel in the winter. The cabin was very clean and lovely in its relatively modern, minimalist decor. There were good materials on hikes in the cabin, including a book on mountain ski routes that made me want to come back a little earlier in the season with all the appropriate gear (and maybe some more skill than I currently possess). The pictures somehow do not do justice to how roomy and wonderful this place feels in person. Ronald was a great communicator, and we had no problems whatsoever checking in or finding the place. It was an unexpectedly perfect finale to our trip in northern Norway.

Great cabin, fantastic area close to the ferry, beautiful nature with tempting mountains outside the door, and a helpful and service-minded host. A great place to stay in Lyngen, no matter what you want to do during your stay.

We had an amazing vacation. We saw the northern lights 2 eveningen, saw 2 mooses one evening on 50m distance from the house, went snow mobiling with svensby tursenter, dog sledding (with team lyngen, a really good deal, one guide for our family alone), walked with snow shoes (rented at svensby tursenter and did a sami reindeer experience in Tonsvik! The children enjoyed sledding and playing in the snow around the house. The house was clean, warm and cosy. We had everything we dreamed of and more :-)

The house is ideally located near the sea, not to far from inland and with wonderful path just behind the cabin. We can enjoy dog sledding, reindeer sledding and even get a glimpse of northern lights through the clouds. Even a moose came to visit us at the cabin. Sauna is really great after hiking all day in snow and the view of the fjord from the cabin is amazing. We hope to come back ! PS : a 4x4 is recommended to fully enjoy Norwegian roads.
