Only 18 beautiful miles from downtown La Crosse, WI. Comfortably close to what might be happening yet far enough out to see the stars, hear the coyotes singing at night or wake to the sound of a rooster crowing. A place to unplug and re-balance.

The space
Gift it Forward Farm is a small piece of land that contains a lot of love. As a steward of this land and the animals that live here- I live as simply and organically as possible. Yes- dogs and cats share the house with me as do the infamous Japanese beetles. Cell phones (depending on carrier) often DO NOT get a signal. There is no TV and no WI-FI available. Up on the ridge there is often a breeze so in the summer- open windows and ceiling fans provide whatever cooling is available.

Guest access
As a guest you will have your own private room with a full size bed. Two twin size air beds and a sofa bed( full size) are also available and can be set up in the living room. There is only one bathroom in the house and we will all be sharing it. The kitchen and living room are also shared space.
Guests are welcome to enjoy the outdoors and observe the animals but are asked to stay out of the sheds and the pastures. Garden produce in season is available on a serve yourself basis as are fresh, free-range, organic eggs.

Other things to note
This is a farm, I will do everything in my power to have all shared spaces clean and comfortable. That being said, Two cats and an old dog share the house. Japanese Beetles like to come in uninvited. There is mud and animals smells. The chickens get up early as well. The front door is always open.

Location

Brownsville, Minnesota, United States

Up on the ridge we get the first rays of morning sunshine and the last bit of light in the evening. The wind is cooling in the summer and cold in the winter. Very few mosquitoes venture this far- most hang out down by the Mississippi River- only 3 miles away. Besides wonderful neighbors we have a lot of wild neighbors too. It is not unusual to see deer, coyote, raccoon, hawks, owls and bald eagles. Brownsville has a post office, community center, several churches, 4 bars, a gas station and small cafe that is no longer open. Wildcat Landing is a county park just south of Brownsville. 3 miles further south is a national wildlife viewing area that is a popular resting spot for the Trumpeter Swans on their migration route.

I love to be outdoors, I love life and finding the gifts hidden in all situations. Horses are my passion and I teach Equine Facilitated Experiential Learning. I love supporting people in their own personal growth and development. I garden and have a growing family of animals that share this small piece of heaven, where we continually work toward more sustainability and conscious stewardship. I am usually pretty clean and organized and basic in my approach to life. I love to laugh and I love the sun. I enjoy meeting people and hosting on Airbnb is another adventure!

During your stay
I get up really early and often go to be early. I like to spend a lot of time outside. I do work full time but will be on the farm after 4pm and on weekends. I teach equine experiential learning and often have clients coming to work with the horses and mini donkeys during those times. I also do bodywork on people and animals. If you are interested in scheduling a experiential learning session with the horses or a bodywork session during your stay- please inquire about prices and scheduling when booking.
