Chom View Cabins are two private cabins located amidst a century old tea plantation overlooking the town of Chiang Dao. At 1,312 meters above sea level, it's always breezy cool up. Some mornings you'll be sitting among clouds in this hill dubbed as DoiMek (cloudy hill).

***Please please please read the listing carefully. Also, once your booking is confirmed, more details will be sent regarding house rules, tips, and detailed direction. Please read those carefully as well :) ***

The space

Chom View 'A'

The cabin is one of the two private cabins (Chom View Cabins) that we originally built our family and friends to stay when they visit Chiang Dao. It is set in the middle of coffee and tea plantation called DoiMek Estate.

The Assam tea trees are hundreds of years old, and our first coffee yields just won Top Ten Best Coffee of 2015 by Specialty Coffee Association of Thailand!

Guest access

You will have access to one cabin and using the whole plantation where you are welcome to pick your own tea tips and coffee berries if you're there in the right season. Feel free to take a hike down hill where we there's a small path, but do be careful and keep in mind that you are in the forest.

Interaction with guests

We visit Chiang Dao twice a month, and we would be staying in a house a few hundred meters down the road. We will not come bother you unless you get bored and need some company.

If we are there, you are more than welcome to come visit us for breakfasts and have some coffee or wine too :) Just walk down the road a few hundred meters and knock on our doors!

Other things to note

IMPORTANT to keep in mind: the cabins are set in the forest. So, please respect the nature. Do not hunt or kill any animals. There are no large animals but be aware of some insects and sometimes mice. Even though they are clean and cute, refrain from feeding them. Make sure you secure all trash in the baskets provided.

We do our best to keep the cabin in its best condition. Do let us know if there are problems and we will have our local caretaker to arrive as soon as possible. Our caretaker does not speak English, but you can call me and I will help you out.

There are other villages around, so please be considerate at night regarding noises. Keep mesh doors shut so insects won't come in to bother you at night.

The single phase electricity can sometimes get cut off during heavy rain. If you don't find this romantic, I do not recommend the place. But if you do, there are flashlights and candles to add extra romance to your stay :)

I arranged to stay here for valentine's night and propose to my girlfriend. I told Kompit this is the messages we exchanged leading up until the date and he helped in every way possible. We got the bus from Chiang Mai into Chiang Dao and Kompit arranged for somebody to collect us from the bus and drop us back to the bus station the next day. It is about a 15 minutes drive from the bottom of the hill up to the cabin and once you get to the cabin the views are (URL HIDDEN) you can see from all the other reviews. Kompit had laid on some petals and champagne glasses for us on the table on the balcony which overlooked the most amazing view. We had a few drinks, got myself on one knee and she said.... yes. Great romantic getaway and Kompit thanks for all your help we both loved the cabin and our stay :-)

Great place, great view, away from everything- a good place to just unwind. The scenery is fantastic. Waking up and just being able to look at the view from bed is something you don't get too often. Amenities were plenty, everything was clean. Kompit was easily contactable and made sure we reached the cabin safely. Overall a great experience!

Chiang Doi means mountain city in thai. If you are like me and are enchanted by mountain climate and lifestyle please stay here. The trek to the cabin is seriously rewarding with views of many of other Dois in the surrounding area and lights of the town below at night. Kompit was extremely helpful with his directions (read carefully) and attentiveness to messages. Just a note of caution if you are afraid of heights this may not be the best place to stay as the road to the top is steep and often have to share the road with pickups hauling produce, tea and coffee. However, if you want a glimpse of what rural thai culture is like, this is the place for you. We had a magical time here, would do again!

We fall in love with Chiang Dao because of this place!!! The view is spectacular. The cabin is clean, quiet, and serene. We prepared our food and cooked it up there. It was fun. Kompit is an awesome host. Looking forward to going back again when we are back to Thailand.

The cabins are exactly like they look in the picture. The view however is better! The most incredible view and so lovely to wake up to every morning. The cabins are very secluded and up a mountain so expect bugs etc. I would definitely recommend having a car to get here from Chiang Mai. Kompit was a great host, we didn't meet him personally but he was very responsive and checked in with us to see how we were getting on and was very understanding when we changed our plans. The cabins are about 45 mins drive out of Chiang Dao but definitely worth it for the peaceful nature and views Would definitely recommend!

Definitely check out this cosy, picturesque cabin! The cabin is located 20 drives up on Chiang Dao mountain, but it's worth the drive! Don't forget to bring groceries so you can cook or bbq up there.

Worth driving all the way up there for the view, peaceful space and being with nature. Make sure you bring some food supply for a least breakfast and snack because it is a windy roads to drive up there. Direction : Only stay on the proper road (paved road) even (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) would suggested you a quicker route on the dirt road - just do not follow it! I love the night sky, and the morning view with pink sky, fogs and bird singing. Spending quality time by myself is a lovely break from the daily life and living in town.

I was trained a designer but ended up working in education, publishing textbooks and multimedia educational materials.

I also grow coffee in the mountains of Chiang Mai, Northern Thailand, where I built two small cabins for myself to stay in when I go there to look after the farm. They are available on airbnb :)

I also roast my own coffee, cook, paint, play saxophone, and scuba dive once in a while.
