Hvalø is beautifully situated in the archipelago in Færder National Park. The calm serenity of the island and the friendly, relaxed atmosphere on the farm will make your stay unforgettable! The perfect get away for a group of friends or a family.

The space

The house, only 100 meters from the sea, is an extension of the barn with a rustic style.
There are two double bedrooms, a loft with two beds, and the option to rent an extra guest house with two beds.
There is a kitchen area in one corner of the main living space, with a gas cooker and a fridge. In the basement there's a bathroom with a shower.
We are solar powered, with a bank of batteries charged during daylight hours. We therefore ask that our guests remember to switch off the lights in rooms that aren't in use!

Guest access

On arrival at the local marina on the mainland guests will be fetched by boat. While staying at the farm guests can have a small boat with an outboard at their disposal for an additional cost. We also have kayaks for hire. The house is equipped with pillows, duvets and towels. Bed linen is available for hire.

Interaction with guests

We are at home on the farm while guests are here, and are happy to help and answer questions!

Other things to note

On the farm you will meet ten sheep and their lambs, ten chickens, a cat and a dog!

This was my fourth visit to this wonderful place, and won't be my last. You couldn't ask for more charming, welcoming hosts, and the island is a haven of tranquillity. Spotlessly clean, with everything you need including comfortable beds!

We had the most glorious, relaxing few days here. The barn is well appointed, with everything you need to self-cater, and lovely comfortable beds! We enjoyed walks on the island, and our son braved the chilly water of the fjord several times. It was lovely to have the use of a boat, meaning that we were able to be independent and we enjoyed visiting Molen beach, and the stone circle at Istrehagan. Tonsberg is a pretty town, with some lovely shops - well worth a visit. Annabel and her lovely family couldn't have been more welcoming and hospitable. We will definitely be back!

It's great place, very quiet and beautiful. The house is full of charme. Annabelle and Fred are always ready to help und to bring us to the shore. We just would have stay longer. There is also a lot to do in the surroundings, for kids and for adults. Just perfect holidays. Thanks.

A fabulous week for the entire family. Several of bathing options which is practical due to various wind conditions. Great walks and beaches. Very charming accommodation. A true nordic summer experience. Ingemar Bergmann vs Eddy Munch.

We had a wonderfull stay at Hvaløy. The house is very charming and full of character! The island is also great to explore, and we had many nice walks and the sea is always near. The hospitality was excellent and we felt very relaxed. Had a lucky timing with the cherrythree being ready for harvesting, and Fred kindly shared two big bowls with us: )

We were met by Fred on time and welcomed on board his boat for the short trip across the sea to the picturesque island of Hvalø. Once we arrived, our shoulders sank and we knew when we were shown the accomatadion, that we had picked the "right place to unwind". A large converted barnhouse that had both charm and comfort. The island is a great place for relaxing and unwinding, we sunbathed on the shoreline to the north and took the years 1st swim! I would recommend this without doubt. Thanks Fred and Annabel
