Riverview Guesthouse is an absolutely enchanting property. I met there with my siblings for a family reunion and it was a nearly ideal spot for this. The property is gorgeous and perfectly remote without being completely disconnected. We took a long walk around the property and i…

Thank you Jordan! Riverview is a very special property that we feel honored to be the current stewards of. It is rich in history and beauty. The only internet access in the country out there is through Hughes satellite, and it is with rapid GEN 5 speeds, but I'm afraid that with rainy/cloudy weather, the connection will be impaired. We apologize for any inconvenience. We do look forward to hosting your family again during more sunny days! Thanks Jordan!

We really enjoyed our stay at the farm. We had quite a few people come from many different directions to spend the weekend together and this setup could not have been better. Plenty of beds and plenty of room in the house. The walk down to the river was really fun and the outside…

We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay at Riverview and that you were able to enjoy the peaceful grounds! The walk down to the James River is fantastic, going by the old tobacco barns. We hope you also got a chance to walk over to Wreck Island and Wreck Island Creek which also borders the property! We hope to see you all again soon!

Great place. We had 11 adults and 3 children. A couple of the rooms were far enough away to allow for children naps while allowing the adults to carry on normal activities and volume levels. The outdoor space was amazing as well.

TL;DR: Wonderful & responsive host, beautiful historic home and area, tons of space, very private & remote place to disconnect from the world (don’t expect cell signal). Trigger warning for people offended by Confederate & racist memorabilia. Vanessa was a fantastic host - ver…

Thank you for your patience with the internet issue, and I am happy you were pleased with the discount we offered to you. HughesNet came out and not only fixed their issue, but upgraded the system so now there is 25-47 Mbps download and 10-14 Mbsp upload speeds. Riverview Plantation dates back to the late 1700's and early 1800's. This 66 acre antebellum property is, in itself, THE context for the historical items. The historical name of the property is "Riverview" and certainly the trees have grown up since the time it was a tobacco plantation. There is farm road access down to the James River. There are Civil War items in the home, BOTH Union and Confederate. And as you note, there is the historical context of both the home and the area, as Appomattox is where the Civil War ended. It is our intention, and honor, to provide an authentic historical experience. We are happy you enjoyed the peaceful grounds with original outbuildings, and the many indoor and outdoor spaces the home has to offer.

My family's stay at the plantation home was nothing short of magical. It is situated in a gorgeous location, and the home itself was warm and inviting. The whole family raved over it, and all hope to return again someday for a longer stay!
