Experience true Luxury: living in the pure Finnish nature! Only solar electricity, no running water, internet, tv... Lake waves and sun beams, breeze in the tree tops, birds singing, forest animals big and tiny... and you and your loved ones together.

The space
A traditional summer cottage in the beautyful Finnish countryside. The mainbuilding is sound on a rock, right above a lake. The terrace reaches upon waterfront.

The mainbuilding has a small kitchen and a living room. There is a queen size bed and two sofabeds for two, totalling possible guest beds for 6 in the main livingroom/bedroom. In the main building is also the traditional Finnish sauna, which heats on wood. The terrace is heading to west, so that the beautiful sunsets can be seen from the main building. (Did you know that the sun goes down just for few hours during the Finnish summer?)

In another building is a summer kitchen with a grill and awesome scenery to the lake and a forest. This has been, at least for our family, the best place to start and end the day. In our third building there is a bedroom for 3 and the toilet.

By reserving this property you will get private access to all of these three buildings. Only for you!

We also have a small rowing boat and two ladies bikes for our guests to use freely. The lake has many delicious fish to be caught! The forest behind the cottage has as much great, healthy berries and mushrooms as one can collect, for example Finnish blueberries (smaller that the regular ones but classified in Finland as "Superfood"), rasberries, forest strawberries and ligonberries.

The main building has a dock which leads to the deepening of the lake bottom, so that it is safe to jump to the water. At the beginning of the dock are stairs to the shallow lake front, so that the lakefront is safe for nons-swimmers as well.

The cottage has only solar electricity and no warm water, but bathing is easy in the sauna, where one can carry water from the lake, and heat the lake water on the sauna stove. The lake water is clear and clean, but we recommend to get drinking water from the village shop, abt. 1 km away from the cottage. (also accessible with the rowing boat) We have a refrigerator, an oven and stove, all of which use solar power.

Kouvola city centre is about 25 km from the cottage, the city centre has lots of shopping opportunities and a popular amusement park. Also the closest railwaystation is in the city centre.

The cottage has a private road to it shared with just one neighbour, so the place is really "hidden".

A few things to note about the cottage...
*Please note that since we don't have running water at the Perfect Hideaway, you need to bring your own drinking water with you. The easiest way is to buy the first canister full at the village shop and then ask the staff to refill it once you have emptied that.

*You are asked to bring your own bed linen and towels with you, they are not included to the cottage rent. In case you don't feel comfortable with bringing your own with you, you can rent a linen and towel package from us for 7 €/person.

*In case you would like to rent SUP boards to better explore the surrounding lake, we are happy to rent those for you! For 20 €/night or 50 €/weekend you get a SUP boards at the village shop, floating wests and a few route suggestions.

Hi! My name is Tiia and I have had the honor of hosting great Airbnb-guests all over the world since 2012. I host three unique places to spend memorable moments in Jaala, Kouvola. At the moment my sister Anne is co-hosting with me and I love her to the moon and back for helping me out. I'm keen on sustainable countryside living and I spend time thinking of new ways on how to improve our home and cottages so that our guests and we burden nature as little as possible. We live here in clean air with beautiful clear lakes, green forests and delicate wildlife all of which I respect and love! I like to think we live quite ecologically but of course there is always room for improvement... In the heart of our village is a small bar and a shop about 1 km away from our home. It´s a great place and the shopkeeper is really helpful! I like to meet all our guests at the village shop to ensure a perfect start for a holiday. Kouvola city centre with lots of shopping opportunities and the railway station is about 35 km from us. I love this place, and would love to introduce it to others as well!
