Ivan's cottage is in a great location. We loved using the deck, sitting around the fire pit at night, and swimming off the dock. Ivan is a wonderful host. He is responsive and cares that his guests have the best vacation experience. We would rent from him again.

A great cottage for a larger group. Plenty of space for everyone. The pool table and dart board are great for those rainy days! The kitchen is well stocked with everything you need. The bbq area was also great. There is a somewhat busy road across the lake that did affect the serenity and beauty of the surroundings at times. The water level was quite high so the sandy beach was not really accessible for small children. The fire pit was perfect for roasting marshmallows! Would definitely recommend!

We had a lovely 10 night stay at Ivan's cottage. It was spacious, clean and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Kushog Lake was very pretty and although initially I was worried about our proximity to the main road, there was little or no noise from cars. The cottage is also in a great location to access all the area offers. Ivan was very easy to deal with and always responded to questions very quickly. I would highly recommend this lovely cottage.

Ivan was a very responsive host, always in touch with additional info and easily accessible when our group had questions about the cottage. The cottage itself was impeccable - clean, great layout, lots of room for activities, and very well stocked with essentials. There were a lot of perks (close to grocery/LCBO, retractable shade on the dock, beautiful deck sitting area, huge BBQ, 2 fridges, etc) and our group of 8 adults + 2 toddlers had a beautiful and relaxing week. The lake itself is clean and beautiful, deep enough to jump off the dock and shallow enough to walk in by the shoreline. With the doors/windows open (screens closed) we caught enough wind that the cottage was a comfortable temperature all week, even though it was 30C+ outside! Highly recommended!

Ivan has a has a great place it is very clean and stocked full of amenities. The water is very clean and clear and probably the best I've experienced so far. As with most lakes the beach is subjected to water levels of the lake and during our stay it was submerged, however there are steps from the dock allowing access to the water. Although not a deal breaker for us, for those looking for an absolutely quiet experience the cottage is located at a narrow between two sections of a lake which may be subjected to boat traffic, in addition the main highway across the lake form Ivan's place so there is periodic road noise from passing cars and trucks.

Ivan's cottage was well-equipped and in a great central location for exploring the area. The fire-pit was beautiful at night and perfect for making s'mores! Huge place - would be perfect for 2-3 families.

Our family group (4 adults plus 3 children ages 8, 6 and 2) had a very enjoyable week here in mid July. The cottage is very comfortable and well equipped, pretty much as shown in the photos. We have rented various cottages with the kids over the last few years, and they all voted this as their favourite when we left. We had great weather and spent much of our time relaxing & swimming from the dock. The dock has a retractable sun shade (not shown in the photos), which is a nice idea for when you have had your quota of UV rays. The cottage has some water craft available for use; a canoe, kayak, small aluminum row boat and - the kids' favourite - a pedal boat. Bring your own PFDs though. If you want a power boat, there is a marina on the lake that rents larger boats & motors. Note that the water levels here, as with most lakes in the area, can fluctuate throughout the year. So the small beach area shown in one photo was submerged during our stay. This was not a show stopper for us, although a bit disappointing for the 2 year old, so parents with small or non-swimming kids should be aware of this. The location is very convenient for local attractions in the Haliburton & Algonquin regions, also for grocery shopping (Dorset is just a 15 minute drive north on Hwy 35). Note that Hwy 35 runs along the opposite shore of the lake, so those seeking a more remote wilderness experience may find the occasional road noise detracts from this. All in all, everyone had a wonderful week. We would certainly rent it again in future years.
