Description

Relax at home with the log fire and spectacular views of the Estuary and Dartry Mountains. Nearby to the famous Rossknowlagh beach and Tullen Strand. Use as a base to explore Donegal or surrounding counties of Leitrim, Fermanagh and Sligo.

outh facing estuary view offers panoramic views of the ever-changing estuary and it's backdrop of the Dartry Mountains from many rooms of this elevated property-the living-room, kitchen, and three of the bedrooms. It has a wonderful atmosphere in which to get away from it all. There is nothing to compare with sitting beside the log fire in the kitchen with a glass of wine in hand looking out at the white peaks of both water and mountain. The terrace at the front is great for summer barbecuing and the private garden is lovely in spring time ith apple and pear blossom and in the autumn when the trees are laden with fruit. If you can drag yourself away from the property, you will find yourself in an area that is one of the best kept secrets in Ireland for its beauty and amenities. Here in south Donegal you are just a few miles from the borders of Counties Leitrim, Fermanagh and Sligo and this property is ideally placed for an exploration of the exciting North-West and Northern Ireland.

ON FOOT- Take in the sight of the Cistercian Abbey of Assaroe here since 1178, en route to the ancient town of Ballyshannon, birth place of William Allingham and more recently Rory Gallagher. Here you can enjoy the leisure centre, the Lakeside Activities centre, or a quiet drink in one of the many pubs. Take the designated walk along the banks of the estuary until you arrive at Creevy pier. BY CAR, within a few miles you can surf on fabulous Rossnowlagh beach or at Tullen or Bundoran. In Bundoran, you can enjoy Waterworld or horseride on Tullen strand. The area is famed for it's fishing and it's golf links at Murvagh and Bundoran. There are some seriously good places to eat and you are only twenty minutes from the famed Organic Centre at Rossinver and you are 40 minutes from the Lough Erne Hotel, Golf and Spa Resort.

There isn't great public transport, a car is really a necessity!

My father is from Ballyshannon and we have family in Ballyshannon that we normally would have stayed with but decided to rent a house for a little more independence. My father is in the beginning stages of Alzheimer's so we planned this trip as possibly his final visit home. The house exceeded our expectations. My father couldn't and hasn't stopped raving at how beautiful the house was. The location was perfect to walk into town or to the "end of the road". We had the best time in Mairead's home! Everything was exactly as described. Mairead met us at the house and showed us around and explained how everything worked. The house was bright, warm, welcoming and very well decorated. The view was spectacular! Mairead was available at any time via email or cell, if we needed anything. I would highly recommend this home to anyone that is visiting this part of Ireland. You will not be disappointed!!
