About this listing
Sunny room the size of a studio - St. Lazare/Opera. Contact me for monthly rates. Light/airy quiet (4th floor). Work area with desk, monitor, printer and speakers. Comfortable double bed. Fully equipped kitchen with plenty of counter space and gas stove/oven. Large bath tub and
subway tile in the bathroom. Newly renovated kitchen/bath and hardwood floors. Great neighborhood for transport, central but not touristic... All you need to bring is your toothbrush.
This apartment has a terrific location, right next to the Gare St. Lazare, a busy commercial district during the day, but calm and quiet at night. The room is large, over 20 m2, with great morning and evening light through windows east and west and, as it is on an upper floor, the light floods in not blocked by neighboring buildings. Double windows on street for quiet when you want it, and on an inner courtyard. The place has a newly renovated kitchen, bath, hardwood floors. There are radiators in every room, a nice bathtub, gas stove. No mailboxes or interphones. The concierge delivers the mail in the mornings. So, the place is private in the old school Parisian way. The daughter of the guy who owns the whole building lives in the building so it is well kept up.
Full access to the kitchen and bathroom, and you are welcome to use the computer monitor, speakers, and HP printer. The internet modem is in this room so you can use it with cable or wifi.
Interaction with guests
For this room, I don't. This is my room when I am in town. So, when I rent this space out it is because I am out of town. There is a smaller room down the hall which I rent out longer term, for six months to a year at a time. Just now, it is rented by a nice young woman who is a teacher from Switzerland taking some time off. She is easy to get along with, quite, keeps things clean too... But if you want privacy you never have to see her as her room is right near the entrance of the apartment and yours is at the end of the hallway which runs the length of the apartment.
Other things to note
I am always available for a (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) videoconference when I am out of town if you have any questions or problems that come up...
This is a small, private building. So, guests need to be nice, fairly quiet, fairly civilized, not drawing a lot of attention to themselves. I don't want the concierge, or the building owner, thinking I am running a rental service for just anybody who comes along with some cash in hand... Be nice to the girl down the hall, and polite with the concierge, and everything should be ok. If you look scruffy, like to party, smoke or sniff dope, drink heavily, or like to blast acid rock on the stereo...well, no, this is not the place you're looking for...

I am an american who divides his time between my two favorite cities in Europe, Paris and Stockholm. I have a two room apartment in both towns and, in order to keep them both, I have a roommate in each town. And, when I am away from either town, I make my room available for short term rentals. I am an actor, a singer (lyric tenor), and a sometime consultant in performance skills for the business community. So, I do what I can to get by. Both of my places are lovely spots. The Stockholm apartment is a little more in nature in a part of town where many artists and progressive type people live because it is close to town but still affordable. The Paris apartment is right in a busy central Paris district so you are right in the heart of town and feel its pulse. I am always available on if ever any problems come up, but you also usually have a nice roommate down the hall to give you any advice you need about navigating either of these two fabulous cities to live in.
