What a fantastic weekend escape! Over the Mountain Farm is a picturesque and tranquil property. And Victoria was a great host, even stocking our room with snacks and fresh fruit before our arrival. As my friend and I had a girls' weekend, we were appreciative of the twin beds and giant bathroom! The farm is a very short drive to both Boonsboro and Hagerstown and a million times better than staying in a hotel/motel. I have a feeling we will be back!

This is certainly a beautiful place - - a comfortable room and inviting common hall in the barn. The surroundings - - farm, llamas, woods and night sky are all promoters of great relaxation. We will be back.

Property is run down. Overgrown weeds, flower pots of weeds, broken things and just old feeling. We got ant and tick bites. Host didn't seem to care. Ask for more than two towels a week and were told it would be $4 more per towel. AC broke from ant infestation. Host turned off AC 10-4 and would also turn off fan that was the only source of cooling in the non AC barn in the pictures. It was over 100 degrees several days. This barn has solat panels too and they are still not allowing guests to be comfortable. AC control was in a separate room and host locked it and pretended her family was using it when they never came. Overflowing trash can I had to empty myself and wouldn't provide trash bag. Bizarre experience. We stayed 19 days and got out of the last 11! Host wanted to charge 50. Additional pet clean up fee amf I ask not to pay it since we had no AC for two days. Instead of accepting it she became vindictive and we were even more miserable. There are no pictures provided of the room we rented and that's because it's cluttered and not a king bed but two twins. Just was a bad stay for us.

Response from Victoria:
This is the first negative review we've received since we signed up with Airbnb two years ago.  Our best response is to refer the reader to other comments on our site.  A few remarks about the tenant’s claims: The property is on a certified organic produce farm.  What may appear as weeds, are actually a hay field and hedgerows intended to attract and provide habitats for beneficial insects.  The barn is a beautifully renovated building with comfortable rooms.  We have an outstanding cleaning service. The suite is intended for a two-person occupancy: one bedroom, large closet and full bath.  Because we sometimes have non-couple guests staying, we intentionally have two twins that we put together as a king when requested. The tenants abused the agreement by having their daughter and two nieces stay with them for several nights. They took several additional towels for their guests resulting in us asking for a $4.00 fee for extra towels weekly. We are not surprised they were uncomfortable in the suite and spilled over to other areas of the building, including a large middle room that is a shared space for the people staying in the apartment on other side of the barn. This middle shared space does not have AC but two large fans and cross ventilation.   They asked for access to a second room with AC “to sit with family members in the evening” and were allowed to do so at no additional charge.  They had control of the thermostat and set it on permanent hold at 71 degrees (on occasion at 69 degrees).  The extra room with the thermostat was used for a single night by our visiting daughter, and locked that one night.   When they banged at our door that evening to complain that it was too hot we showed them the thermostat: still set at 71 degrees.  They called late one night when we were out of town to say that the AC was broken.  We had it checked within the hour by our handyman and it was operating.  By 9 am the next morning a technician did a thorough inspection and maintenance.  There was no serious interruption in service. When they told us about ants (in the shared middle space), we treated the area. They placed trash (and dog poop) in the recycling bin.  The recycling bin was filled to capacity once on the day our apartment guests (who left a glowing review) checked out and was emptied the next morning.  It may be significant to note that all was well until tenants needed to depart early and asked Airbnb for a refund.

Victoria and Chris have beautiful land and they are fantastic host. There is so much do on and off the property. It's 10 mins away from Hagerstown and 15 mins away from hiking trails and Greenbrier state park. The farm house has a home feeling and it's so big that even with other guest there you still felt like you had the place all to yourself, thanks again for having us and we will be returning for sure with the kids next time.

Vickie was very nice and welcomed us upon arrival and had coffee and muffins waiting for us in our room. The barn common area has been renovated beautifully with floor to ceiling windows overlooking the farm. The property is gorgeous and filled with walking paths. My boyfriend and I enjoyed hiking the area and found the cutest sitting bridge to watch the creek flow by as the beavers and ducks played. Overall, our stay was great. The only thing to mention was that the bed was two twin beds pushed together which left a bit of a divot to get stuck in the middle of the night. However, this was a minor inconvenience compared to the views and ambiance of the barn/farm.
