The perfect escape from the city with all the comforts to promise a low-key reprieve right on the Skykomish river. While the striking views of the Index peaks welcome you, the peaceful sound of the river lulls you to sleep. This A-Frame has been completely remodeled with designer finishes and modern furnishings, complete with brand new hot tub overlooking the river and Norwegian sauna indoors. Just 3 minutes from downtown Index and the gateway to best outdoor scenic places of Washington.

The space
The Aframe is amazing. It’s open floor plan make for a feeling that you are in nature even when you are inside. Outside views and space here are some of the most dramatic views in WA state. Mount Index is hovering right above and the peaks are breathtaking. The loft bedroom has a king bed and daybed plus sitting area overlooking the river. The bathroom is on the main level. A full laundry room, loads of storage for gear keep the space clear and clean for your visit. The sauna is new and extremely high quality…
It’s the hot tub on the deck overlooking the river that might not let you leave the Aframe. This is one of the nicest locations on the river. A new fire pit and chairs has recently been added just at rivers edge for cracking fires (firewood included) and s'mores.
*due to safety concerns this property with the drop to the river and the at times swift current is not suitable for kids under 12*

Other things to note
The maximum occupancy of the Aframe is 4. In addition to the king bed, there are also 2 twin sized beds that are converted in the living room from inside the long bench area in the dining room. The additional daybed is located upstairs near the king bed in the bedroom.
If you have a larger group, let me know as there is the option to ALSO rent the little black cabin next door too. Its the perfect friends weekend in the woods...

Please check the weather report in the winter prior to coming to the Aframe! If a storm rolls in, while our road it is plowed always by our HOA, each vehicle is different—if in doubt bring chains.

Here are some details that might help as you plan for you time! I’m an avid cook —-be sure to bring groceries with you and not really rely on the local groceries in Index or Gold bar except for basics… they don’t have much of a food scene here 😉 which is fine since you won’t want to leave the cabin anyway! There is a Fred Meyer in Monroe or a Safeway and a Family Grocer in Gold Bar but not great.

We do LOVE to pick up Thai food to go if its been a long day and we don't want to cook on the way up the cabin---try "Thai on Main Street" in Monroe or grab a pizza at "Ricco's Pizza" in Gold Bar...both are great! We also love "Maggy's Mexican" in Gold Bar. All easy take out.

During your stay...please help us keep the hot tub in perfect shape. At least one time during your stay...you will see a little bag having on the towel hooks my the hot tub. Will you toss on 2 tablets direct into the water and one scoop of the powder? We so appreciate this and it will ensure a sanitized tub for all, everytime.

There is plenty of firewood for you! No need to bring any. There is a garbage container and recycle container at the end of the house, please leave your trash behind in those :) Let me know if you need anything & safe travels! Im so happy to share this magic place with you. We love it without whole hearts and trust you will feel that during your stay.

The location is just minutes from some of the best hiking in the state… and just 25 minutes from Steven’s Pass for epic skiing at the resort or backcountry. Also 2 miles away is the downtown of Index. The River House is a charming coffee spot loved by locals that is attached to the adventure center where trips can be planned for kayak and rafting excursions. Be sure to find out their offerings as they change seasonally. The Bush House is a historic hotel that has recently been restored and is wonderful! You can be as active or as laid back as you want in this area….it’s a postcard for the senses.
