Nestled in a wooded valley, with the sounds of the river flowing, this barn conversion is a peaceful haven with a clear, bright and creative energy.
The accommodation includes two bedrooms, one with en suite bathroom, a shower room and a 50ft open plan living space with a wood burning stove and a double sofa bed - the kitchen area has a gas cooker, fridge freezer and washing machine. There is under floor heating making it cosy in the winter. It is a great space to hang out with the people you love and share time cooking and eating, or chilling out on the sofas reading a book - spacious enough to not feel on top of one another too.
There is a small patio outside one bedroom with chairs and outside the kitchen there is a decking area with table and chairs, set in a large, very private woodland garden, fully enclosed, perfect for doggie companions. Driveway has parking for two cars.
Treowlnow, as I call it, because of the many owls that frequent these parts, is a lovely village in a wooded valley, with the River Cober running through it. It is just outside of Helston so all the facilities of a town are close at hand, but you can walk the many footpaths or cross the stepping stones and follow the river to the National Trust Penrose Estate and walk around Loe Pool and on to Loe Bar. The sandy and surfing beach of Praa Sands is ten minutes drive away.
What is great about this position is how accessible it is for exploring many areas, between 10 and 15 miles away are The Lizard, St Ives, Newlyn, Penzance, Helford River, Falmouth, Feock, Gwithian, Porthtowan.
I am not living on site so will only meet the guests for check in and check out.
Need a car - nearest train station Redruth 20 min drive and car hire can meet you at station.
We loved this cottage. The pictures don't do it justice!
All the beds were really comfortable and the place was very clean. The location was lovely for morning walks.
I was a little worried on looking at the pictures that it would be a little cold as we went in February but the underfloor heating keeps the place very warm.
It was also really nice to not have wifi and a TV. It made us interact and play games! There was a good 3G service on O2 in case we did need to check our emails.
Can't thank Jane enough for the stay. I highly recommend this place!
A group of us stayed at Om Shanti for New Years week and it was just what we were after. Rural enough to feel as though you are isolated, yet conveniently close to shops etc. a five minute drive away.
Although a bit rough round the edges in places, this only served to add to the charm of Om Shanti, and meant we felt at home as opposed to worrying that everything had to be kept pristine.
The garden is fabulous - the dog absolutely loved exploring it each day!
We didn't actually meet Jane during our stay, however she was quick to respond to any questions we had via text, which was great and really helpful.
With The Lizard a twenty minute drive away, I would happily recommend Om Shanti to those who wish to have an active holiday exploring the coast, as well as those who are after a cosy retreat to curl up in front of the fire and relax, many thanks!
Great place to stay though missed wifi and a TV at night. Neat and tidy and great location in the bush. Great hot water and kitchen facilities. Beds were comfortable and sitting by the fire was fantastic. Need a hire car because no transport nearby. Had a great time. Thanks Jane.
Just what we were looking for, peace and tranquility. Woodburner to chillout in front of. Lovely surroundings and a friendly feel to the place, like home from home. Jane has got this place just perfect. Great first weekend break for me and my partner, we have lovely memories there and will definitely be back to stay. Thank you Jane for letting us to stay in On Shanti :-) felt really at home but on holiday. Melissa :-)
A wonderful house!! Om Shanti made us feel home during our stay, Jane was a perfekt host, answered all our questions and helped us with everything.
We really wished we could stay longer. Maybe next time :)
Nice big space in which to relax; generous-sized, comfy sofas. But not exactly the getaway one hoped for, being in what amounted to a suburb of Helston. We also had something of a problem w the detail: no good cutting knives for cooking; horrid mangled and dirty light pull in bathroom; annoying bottom sheet on bed which constantly pinged off its mattress topper. Worst of all, no towels. So instead of leaping into the very nice bath or adequate shower on arrival, we had to head out again to find towels and buy them. Were all these inadequacies to be remedied, and our hostess to have perhaps put in an appearance at some point we would be recommending Jane's peaceful haven enthusiastically.
Om Shanti is certainly not in a suburb! It is very much a village location down a no through lane surrounded by trees, although, as my listing describes, it is really conveniently close to Helston, it's a mile away. I was surprised to hear you arrived at the property with no towels of your own. It is listed in the house manual that bath towels are not provided and I specifically asked your daughter had she noted this a few days before your arrival. I wish you had contacted me as regards the sheet as it sounds a simple mistake by the cleaner - that the double sheet for the double bed had been put on the queen sized bed and vice versa and I would have been able to get a correct sized sheet to you without problem. I appreciate you bringing my attention to the knives and the light pull and I can sort these out when I return. Finally, I would have loved to have met you and your family (and your dog because I absolutely love dogs), and many of the other guests who stay at Om Shanti. That's what I love about Airbnb, the wonderful and interesting people it attracts, and it usually feels like friends or friends of friends have stayed in my house, however, it is not always practical to meet face to face as I am not staying on site, but I am always really happy to answer any questions or queries regarding the house or surrounding area before or during a guests stay.
A perfect stay in a perfect surrounding, even with two children ;-)! Jane works professionally for her guests in the background. Although you might not see her, everything will be prepared for a wonderful holiday! So, do not hesitate to send her an email...
We spent 2 weeks at "Om Shanti" and liked it very much. Warm atmosphere, spacious, quiet, unique, colourful. You feel loving care that has gone into redecorating the house.
Jane's place is wonderful! Very peaceful, spacious and clean, beds were very comfortable, lots of natural light, well equipped kitchen and gorgeous garden. Highly recommended and we would love to stay again :)
We've spent an amazing couple of days at Om Shanti and we've enjoyed every minute of it. The place is amazing- colourful, bright, clean and spacious. The kids loved exploring the garden and the grown-ups enjoyed the quiet , peaceful atmosphere. The location is great for trips around Cornwall, only a few minutes drive from Helston and literally more than we could have wished for! We'd love to come back!
