Interaction with guests
Gina is a teacher so she will be home during the summer months but is usually out during the school year. Aaron works right down the block and is also out during the day time. We are both out the door early and home late at times.
We will be as involved with you as you'd like - whether you feel like conversation or need the space to yourself. We're often in the common areas after work on weeknights and enjoy talking to guests, so feel free to join in! We also realize guests sometimes like their space which is why we say that we'll interact as much as you'd like!
We are in a very tight-knit community and always welcoming our guests out to the pool and BBQs, so feel free to join in!
There is a cat and dog and we will do our best to try and contain them although they love people. They are treated, so those with mild allergies to cats will not be bothered (I'm allergic as well).
This is an exciting neighborhood with an endless amount of this to do. Walk to Zilker Park and check out Barton Springs! At dusk, take a 5 minute walk to Congress Bridge to see the bats before heading downtown for a night out.
Austin is always keeping it weird and our neighborhood puts you right in the center of it. Discover new food from the food trucks all around us. Live music is found every day in every nook and cranny of Austin. Minutes to the world famous Continental Club (and the even better Gallery upstairs where you can catch local acts).
Explore Town Lake by canoe or paddle board - rentals are right near the apartment. Keep fit by walking and running the Hike and Bike trail that goes around down and around the river.
We usually recommend walking our neighborhood and downtown as it is all within a one to three mile radius. Austin is a beautiful city and you discover so much when going on foot.
Biking: B-Cycle and other bike rentals are right down the road (1-2 minute walk) on Congress. For $8 a day, you can easily explore the city. Just make sure to park the bike at a B-Cycle rack every 30 minutes.
In addition there are multiple bus stops nearby, so getting around Austin will be a cinch.
Not up to walking or biking? Fasten provides cheap fares, even during peak hours, to our location due to close proximity to downtown.
Parking: Available for one spot within the apartment lot and plenty spaces available on the street as well.
From the Airport: Take 71 West towards Downtown; Take I35 North and exit Riverside Dr. Turn left onto Riverside and then left onto Congress. Further instructions provided with booking.
Other things to note
This is a child-free apartment complex so unfortunately I cannot allow children to stay in the apartment.
Our house is yours during this time, please make yourself comfortable.
- Smoking is allowed. Please use your balcony, downstairs deck, or 3rd story deck for cigarettes.
- Please be clean and respectful of the apartment.
- Your friends are welcome but please remember you are responsible for them while in the apartment and you cannot give them your access code. Get-togethers are fine, raging parties probably not so much.
- Feel free to come and go as you'd like! Early birds and night owls are both welcome here.
- Please be sure to lock up when you leave the apartment.
- There is no daily maid service for your bedroom but if you need new linens or towels, please let one of us know. The shared living spaces are tidied up daily.
- Please leave dishes in the sink or in the dishwasher, not in the bedroom/bathroom/balcony/outside decks.
We love exploring everywhere and meeting new people. ATX is an amazing place to visit and if you are interested in visiting, please stay with us while you are here.
I am a high school teacher and a soccer coach, so if you stay with me, I will mostly likely be in and out of the apartment (depending on the time of year). Aaron, my boyfriend, lives with me and works in sales, so he'll be in and out of the apartment.
We have an amazing cat named Izzy who wants to be everyone's best friend. We also just adopted a puppy (although she doesn't look it) from the local shelter named Jackie. She's a sweet bundle of energy and training is coming along just fine - she'll definitely want to hug you and shower you with love if you stay with us!
We started using AirBnB to off set the cost of the unused room in the apartment and to meet new people. This opportunity is helping us save to travel around the world! Backpacking the Mediterranean is our plan for next summer!
