The lovely little Ceredigion towns of Newcastle Emlyn and the county capital, Cardigan, are rich with quirky, independent character, good eateries and great antique shops. Discover the miles of sandy beaches, charming villages and picturesque coves of this spectacular coastline.

VELINDRE HOUSE …
Is the oldest dwelling in an ancient village with 16th Century foundations, and 3 huge 18th century reception rooms.
The soft salmon coloured lime washed exterior of makes the house look gloriously welcoming, even in the depths of winter and there’s large inglenook fireplaces in both the main rooms- one with an Aga and one with a Woodburner to keep cosy and encourage lazy dozing. Logs for your stay will be provided free from our own land.
We have a unique Boho, well travelled style that puts comfort and charm first so don’t think cold/stuffy old country house, think gorgeous textures, oriental rugs, quirky objects d’art and loads of lounging space in the four large receptions. In summer we can sleep up to 28 with excellent outdoor facilities. We are insured for up to 16 maximum in the house via Airbnb. Extra accommodation is booked privately by arrangement with us and these are only rented in conjunction with main house so the site is exclusively yours- it’s totally private so loud music inside ( due to the 3 foot thick walls we can’t actually hear you!) dancing and raucous laughter are actively encouraged!

SUSTAINABILITY. Responsible hosting means a commitment to minimising waste and reusing / restoring and repurposing whatever we can. We are committed to using only ecologically sensitive products and wherever possible it’s organic, eco friendly paints, natural fabrics, restored antique furniture, and traditional art and craftwork throughout. No hot tub or hog roasts here Im afraid. We are scrupulous in our cleaning but we do not use harsh chemicals or whiteners.

STAG AND HENS AND SPECIAL EVENTS … bring ‘em on!
We positively welcome respectful do’s because so far we’ve had great experiences of hosting them and cooking special feasts, arranging trips, workshops, and treats for the revellers, with a few ground rules made clear upon booking! Please let us know in the nature of your event so we can plan the space accordingly.

LARGER SUMMER EVENTS
( May- September) We expand into the 5 acres of land dotted with unique hand built structures to sleep in serenaded by the birds and the river. The lovely grass green canvas marquee and outdoor bar is equipped with PA + lighting and catering/ seating for 30+ Bookable privately alongside the main house. The fire pits and the outdoor honesty bar are included in all bookings - with a great village pub, chippy and a decent local shop you don’t need to go far for a perfect weekend.

Boats and bonfires are included in your booking and can turn a weekend into an adventure. We will ask you to acknowledge - in writing - that you enter the water and roam the grounds at your own risk and take extra care of your kids and your own safety, especially in the rain. We don’t light certain areas as it disturbs the many bats and nesting birds. Dark skies means big stars! We are rare in that we do short stays in the summer and have some great deals on 3rd nights ( Sunday or Thursday) to make the most of your trip here.

WE OFFER A SPECIAL PLACE FOR PEACE, CONTEMPLATION, MEMORIAL AND CREATIVITY.
Your imagination can go wild here! As musicians and ecologists we aim to be creative, sustainable and flexible so please get in touch if you have special requests or unique event ideas you think you can bring to life in our little plot of paradise.

Guest access
All of the main house is yours and you have complete privacy. We live in the attached cottage behind 3ft thick walls so we can’t hear the revelry in the main house! The back garden is our private space and the busy outbuildings where supplies and equipment are stored are no go areas for guests. The big hard standing yard can take up to 7 cars but it’s unrestricted and safe parking throughout the village if you need to bring more.
NB Please do not open the conservatory doors- the latch is dodgy and almost impossible to reshut.

Other things to note
We try to be sustainable hosts - cutting waste and minimising heat loss. All Glitter is 100% BANNED! if you’d like to put up some of your own decorations with blutac, that’s fine but please take them down and away with you. Please do not leave outside doors open- it makes the excellent heating system inefficient and this cosy house feel much less so! Please cease OUTSIDE NOISE AT 11pm so as not to disturb the village- but inside is fine till the wee small hours 😂
Drefach Felindre - ‘little place of the mill’ is a wonderfully friendly village and well behaved visitors are welcomed everywhere- especially in our brilliant local pub the John Y Gwas. No! You are not expected to speak any Welsh but a greeting and a thank you are always enthusiastically received! Diolch

Neighbourhood highlights

Drefach Felindre is charming traditional village running along the picturesque Teifi Valley bang on the border of Carmarthenshire and Ceredigion only 4 miles from Pembrokeshire. It's a place steeped in a rich history of rebel uprisings and strong craft centred economies. We have a well stocked local shop with a reasonable alcohol section and that rare thing in West Wales - a brilliant health/wholefoods/vegan and organic store Pantri Y Bach on the doorstep, full of goodies and local produce like artisan cheeses, vegan supplies, organic veg and fresh herbs. There’s a fish and chip shop, a welcoming pub that serves bar food and the lovely nearby town of Newcastle Emlyn has a range of great independent shops, loads of eateries, pubs, 3 craft shops and a splendid vegetarian restaurant ,The Riverside Cafe. NE has two excellent Indian takeaways, two chippies, a pizza/kebab place and two supermarkets. In the summer we spill out into the gorgeous gardens with our bell tents, lakeside tipi, Riverside yurt are all available by seperate arrangement and we have two compost loos and new outdoor shower, a romantic shepherds hut, and a classic grass green canvas marquee that we deck out like a huge Bedouin tent with seating, lighting and a sound system for celebrations. Adjoining our house we have dedicated the land to the creation of free community allotments and we host community events and music nights during the week. The parish church opposite our high hedge is famous for its wonderfully unusual shape and they welcome visitors, as does the fascinating Welsh Wool Museum. We don't have a wedding license but we can host your wedding guests, bridal parties, blessings, hand fasting, baby naming, ritual or receptions here and so we welcome personal visits, by arrangement, to see if this is the place for you.
