Private room in this newly remodeled single level, 1500 sq ft home with stunning Mt. Hood / valley views! Stroll 10 minutes to super-hot Montavilla (look online: "10 hottest US neighborhoods right now"). Perched on Mt Tabor, just a few blocks from hiking in beautiful Mt. Tabor Park, we're just a few minutes from Hawthorne District, Division St, Belmont, Jade District, and hundreds of pubs and restaurants. And only 20 minutes from stunning Columbia Gorge, (the best hiking in the portland area).

The space

This is one of the few Airbnb spaces on Mt. Tabor that really offers GREAT views. The space is the main floor of a Mid-Century Modern, set up to feature the view in all the living areas (the bedrooms have views of Mt. Tabor Park and forest). Take some time to relax with a bottle of wine on the peaceful deck which has INCREDIBLE views of the Willamette Valley, the Gorge, and Mt. Hood! It's an excellent location: A safe, quiet, neighborhood, just out of the fray of busy streets!

Your private bedroom has a double sized bed with a SUPER COMFY 3 inch memory foam topper, (Guests have told me that this bed with it's memory foam pillows gave them the best sleep they've had in weeks!) And of course fresh bedding, pillows, extra blankets and even more pillows... 2 people would comfortably fit here, though arrangements can sometimes be made to accommodate more. There is a ceiling fan, and a dresser and a work desk for your use in your room. There is one shared full bathroom. The house is comfy warm in the winter, and has A/C for the summer. There is a cozy gas fireplace in the living-room.

I pride myself on Value, so you'll be provided with...
~Free High-Speed Wireless Internet
~Toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, body wash), towels and washcloths, blow dryer, (to save space in your suitcase!)
~Two phone charging stations (on the nightstand on each side of the bed, right where you need them).
~Dresser, if you feel like taking time to unpack and relax
~Rack for your luggage (so you're not tripping over it or cluttering up the dresser top)
~Individual Fan and Heater in the room, so you can control your own temperature, or in case you need some white noise while you sleep :-)
~Work table in case you need to spread out your work, if you brought it :-(
~Cozy gas fireplace for ambiance while you sit and watch the world go by in the city below!
~Portland Picks and Information, dining and sightseeing guides, and my special LOCAL PICKS, arranged in an easy way to see the most exciting things that this area has to offer.
~My handmade MAPS (these things took HOURS to create) with Restaurants, Pubs, Breweries, Food Carts, Hiking, and Public Transportation marked!
~Plenty of (bookmarked) Portland Travel Books and pamphlets, local menus...
~Large Screen TV monitor with Netflix and Apple TV, and free Wifi.
~Your personal 24 hour check in/out ACCESS CODE so you can come and go WHENEVER you please, without worrying about me needing to be there to let you in, or having a key to keep track of!
~Pet-free environment, in case you have allergies or a dislike of being covered in pet hair.
~Free parking, right outside the house
~Free Coffee, lots of tea, and breakfasty snacks (so you save some money on breakfasts, although there are some pretty darned great breakfast places nearby that you may not want to miss).

We're located in a VERY QUIET neighborhood just steps from Mt. Tabor park (Portland's most wonderful urban park, and one of only four volcanoes within a US city's limits), 5-10 minutes walk to Restaurants, Food Carts, various Pubs and a Brewery, Vintage Shopping, Farmer's Market , and take Public Transit downtown from just 6 blocks away. We are close enough to the airport to make this a super convenient sleepover to get an early jump on tomorrow's early departure, or for business travelers. Or, if you are heading East to Mt. Hood, or the Columbia Gorge, this is the perfect jumping off point, just 25 minutes from the Gorge.
Also, we're just over a mile from the 205 bike path, and from there a couple miles to the Springwater Corridor, the well-known 21 mile long car-free bike path that connects with countless other parks and bike paths.

Although Check-in and Check-out times are listed, they are just guidelines, and I can usually accommodate other times if reasonable, and worked out in advance.

There may be a small cleaning fee; I wash EVERY piece of bed linen between EVERY guest stay and clean the bathroom EVERY DAY because that's what I would want if I was a guest. I discount the room rate to offset this fee, and it is already included in the booking price that you see. :-)

Morning coffee or tea, and snack bars, are included!

Please Note: in compliance with Portland regulations, there is a maximum of 5 short term guests at any time, staying in 2 bedrooms, in the entire house.

Guest access

Guests have access to the rest of the house, including Living room, Family room, Kitchen, Incredibly Awesome View-Deck, Wifi, Apple TV on a large screen.

Interaction with guests

I'm fine with as much or as little interaction as guests want. I'm available, but not pushy. I'm easygoing, LGBT friendly, and have no agenda other than to see that you have a great time!

Other things to note

I value the transparency of the Airbnb community and welcome newcomers to the experience. Before booking, please make sure your profile has a photo of you, and verified ID, email, and phone number. This will make for an easy approval.

I want you to look back on Portland as your favorite Airbnb stay EVER! So I've got a TON of books and maps about how to "do" Portland, organized in a way that isn't overwhelming or arbitrary. And I'll have lots of specific ideas for things YOU need to do and see, once you let me know what you are interested in!

I LOVE living here. There is no better area in Portland. One of Portland's nicest parks for hiking, easy walking to food and shopping, great views, quiet neighborhood, easy access to public transportation, it's wonderful!

My husband and I stayed for one night on a brief visit to Portland. Scot's home was the ideal base and everything was perfect for our needs. The neighbourhood is absolutely beautiful, hilly and quiet. Scot's apartment is warm and cosy, spotlessly clean and well appointed. The check in process was really easy and Scot was flexible on check in times. We had everything we needed for a restful night. The room is spacious and comfortable, the wifi worked well, and the shared bathroom was clean and the towels fluffy. The most charming thing about our stay was definitely Scot's recommendations and maps – definitely pick his brains if you're looking for tips! We had plans for brunch but changed them when we read his review of a nearby cafe. I would definitely recommend staying in Scot's apartment, he's a brilliant host!

I had a great time staying at Scot's place. The location is fantastic, nearby great parks and cool places to eat and drink. Scot was very helpful and having local recommendations on show was great. Would recommend staying here.

The property was in a lovely and peaceful neighborhood with beautiful views. Although we isn't see the host during our stay, the instructions were so clear it led to an easy checking in process. The other guests were also very pleasant too. The room was spacious and clean upon arrival too!

I loved staying at Scot’s because it’s in a nice area close to many things to do and places to see. It’s very easy to navigate in and out of the place, and it was a spectacular view of Mt. Hood.

Scots house was in a great, quiet neighborhood that was walkable to many great bars/restaurants in the trendy Montavilla area. Also had a beautiful park basically in the backyard for a nice morning walk. And most of all, the views right outside the living room window were breathtaking! Scot was very helpful in recommending areas to explore or food/drink to enjoy and even had a table set up with all of this information as well. I would highly recommend this Airbnb and would stay here again anytime. Thank you Scot

Scot has so many awesome recommendations. He has made a bunch of awesome maps listing out great places to check out. Definitely took some time on his part, and it’s a really nice touch! The neighborhood and the view are totally amazing and beautiful. My girlfriend and I enjoyed staying here!

I'm a freelanced video editor. I'm friendly, but respectful of a person's private space. I'm very into walking (I hike in Mt. Tabor park every morning), photography, racquetball, reading, movies, and craft breweries, of which there seem to be no end around here. I know just enough spanish to embarrass myself, but I enjoy speaking it. I like people, animals, and living in this amazing city.

I can give you lots of ideas about pubs, restaurants, hikes, things to do while you are in Portland, but I am also fine leaving you alone to explore on your own, if you would prefer that. There are a TON of different food types and styles within walking distance of here.

I believe the best of life really happens when you're outside. But if the weather sucks, this great house at least allows one to sit in front of a cozy fireplace and watch the world go by.
