Where you’ll be

Smyrna , North Carolina, United States

We are centrally located in a rural area on highway 70. 15 minutes to Beaufort or Harkers Island. 30 minutes to Cedar Island Ferry to Ocracoke. Close to Core Sound, Cape lookout, Atlantic Beach, and so much more!

There are lots of great spots for fishing. Some of our favorites are:

The bridge just before our house. Locals fish there all the time. Most people go under the bridge.

Straits pier: 1650 Harkers Island Rd. This is about ten minutes away.

Oceanana Pier: 700 E Fort Macon Rd, Atlantic Beach, NC 28512

Please do not go behind the building across the street or use the docks there. The building is an active oyster farm. The other docks are private.

You are, however, welcome to use the sandy beach across the street as we own that land. We’ve never tried fishing from there but I’m sure you could. There’s definitely lots of fish in the bay.

There are also lots of fishing charters. We have not personally taken any of these, but we hear they are great. https://fishingbooker.com/destinations/location/us/NC/cedar-island

Other things to do:

Visit banjo, the potbelly pig. This is someone’s pet pig. But he hangs out at the front of the yard and you can park and see him. My kids love it. I think it’s at 1281 Marshallberg Rd. Or the next house down. You’ll see him.

Visit the Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores: 1 Roosevelt Blvd, Pine Knoll Shores, NC 28512

Shevan’s Park: 1501 Evans St, Morehead City, NC 28557

Eastern Park about 5 minutes from our place: 450 NC Hwy 70 E, Smyrna, NC 28579

Kitty Hawk Kites: 412 Front St, Beaufort, NC 28516. They have fun kites outside and you can see lots of boats docked along front street.

Cedar Island Beach: 840703420186000, 2M8P+QH, Cedar Island, NC.

Shark Island Eats Food truck: https://m.facebook.com/sharkislandeats/

Ferry to Cape Lookout: https://www.islandexpressferryservices.com/ferry-transportation/beaufort-cape-lookout/. You can rent atvs and see the wild horses.

One of our kids favorites is to go to Moorehead and get Moore’s BBQ. We get takeout and have a picnic at the Crystal coast convention center. There is a big metal dinosaur there that my kids love.

GROCERIES: If you’re getting lots of groceries, I would stop in moorehead at the Walmart. Or Lowe’s food, Harris teeter, or lidl.

Closest to our place is the food lion in Beaufort 1901 Live Oak St
Beaufort, NC 28516

Or there is a small grocery store called lookout grocery 5 minutes from our place. 111 Marshallberg Rd
Smyrna, NC 28579

And dollar general has limited groceries as well. 689 Highway 70 Otway
Beaufort, NC 28516
