Catharine was nice. Place is further from town than described. A bit untidy.

Hi jorje you knew I was really sick with a bad flu and was thinking of cancelling but didnt because of the rugby and Dunedin being pretty much booked out ...obviously I should have cancelled

Catherine's place was really lovely! The room was big and spacious with a huge window, plenty of room to put my stuff, a comfortable and warm bed (and really excellent drapes) and the bathroom was spacious and very clean. She very kindly let me keep food in her fridge and cabinets and play with her adorable dog. Catherine herself was very welcoming and helped me feel right at home in Dunedin, a good mix of friendly and understanding when I was jetlagged and needed to sleep.

We had our first bad Airbnb experience at this accomodation. We had been in communication with Catherine when we made our booking and also during the week before our arrival. Despite this it appeared that she had forgotten that we were coming! When we arrived a man who said he was her son let us in, but knew nothing about our booking. He showed us to a room that he said his mother sometimes let out. The bed had a big pile of curtains on top of it. He took them away, but we weren't sure if the bed linen was clean as it was very creased. We didn't see very much of the rest of the apartment as we weren't made to feel welcome; what we did see appeared to be untidy and there was a strong smell of fried food everywhere. The towels we were given/that I found were smelly. There was no toilet paper - I eventually located some in a cupboard. We asked about WIFI and her son could not help. When we asked about where we could get a meal he said he didn't know. We should probably have just left and found a hotel, but it was 7pm and we had been travelling all day so we decided to stay. We found a restaurant and then returned to the apartment. Catherine was still not there - her son had locked the door, but fortunately let us in. We had to catch a bus early the next morning so simply got up and departed without seeing anyone. We felt relieved to get away. Not a good experience. I have tried to contact Catherine to see if she had some sort of emergency, but have heard nothing. I appreciate that this was quite cheap accomodation, but we have stayed at other Airbnb accomodation in this price bracket and have never had a problem. The fee for cleaning is ridiculous. I am also very surprised to read such positive reviews from previous guests.

Staying with Catherine was wonderful. Not only was she an excellent host, she went well above and beyond to help me connect with people in town who might support my work. She was kind, friendly, accommodating, honest, and her pups Dottie was also a delight. I am definitely staying with her next time I'm in Dunedin. I highly recommend her to artistically inclined people of all genres. She is exceedingly supportive and well-connected. She is also very open minded and a queer friendly house.

Catherine is a fantastic host! Made check in incredibly easy and looked after everything I could have asked for. Nice home with a beautiful view and very comfortable bed, about a 10-15 minute walk to the Octagon.

It was a great time being with Catherine for a week in Dunedin. The place was just good as I feel just like my home. Catherine's house has beautiful views all around her place through the windows to look out. You can see the harbour, ocean, mountains and beautiful house all the time at this place. And it only takes 15 to 20 minutes to Octagon area where your day can be started, from this place which is quite close to reach anywhere in Dunedin. I didn't need to take buses often, but when only need to go far from the downtown Dunedin. Catherine has broad knowledges and thoughts of many things such as art, people, things around city, nature, and so on. And she likes music, singing, readings much just like me so I really truly enjoyed being with her at home. She is a person who makes people smile, feel comfortable, and safe like her family. And there is a little lady dog called Dotty, she is just adorable dog and she actually likes to play with people. I loved playing and walking with Dotty. I would recommand this place to who is searching for a good host and a puctional room with nice view. And you can see Catherine's art work at her place as well. I truly had a enjoyable week long stay with Catherine and her family. Thank you soooooo much Catherine!
