Stables End offers a peaceful and rejuvenating retreat to get away from it all, nestled in a lovely country village in the the peaceful valley of Upper Wharfedale. Situated in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, the cosy cottage has great walks and bike rides on the doorstep and pretty villages such as Grassington and Kettlewell nearby to explore. Other activities within walking distance include horse riding, wild swimming and fishing.

The space
The cottage is situated at the entrance to a family-run horse stables, with lovely views across the Wharfedale river valley. Guests enjoy the real sense of country life watching the horses come and go and the easy no-car access to some of the finest walks and scenery in the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

This cosy property has an open plan living room and kitchen on the ground floor, with a king size bedroom and bathroom upstairs. Guests report that the king size bed is very comfortable and they love relaxing in the bath after a long adventure on the hills.

On arrival we provide a welcome basket with some tea/ coffee, sugar/ milk /wine and biscuits for your arrival. Free parking is always available just opposite the front door. WiFi available.

Looking after the planet is important to us and we're proud that the cottage is heated by an eco-friendly biomass boiler and we hold the coveted Green Tourism Gold award.

Please note that the stove in the living area cannot be used and is only decorative - sometimes birds nest above.

Stables End is located in the relaxed and friendly village of Conistone. Upper Wharfedale is still a farming community so the fields are full of sheep and cattle. The river Wharfe flows close to the village and is ideal for wildlife watching or a quick dip if you like wild swimming. Across the valley is Kilnsey Park, a must do experience whilst you are on holiday here. There is a lovely cafe/shop with family fishing and a nature trail (our guests receive 10% off their visit for the fishing and trail). Scenic pony trekking is available on site - there's no better way to experience the area. The local village pub the Tennants Arms is less than 10 minutes walk across the valley, with good meals and real ales. We provide a night torch to help you find your way safely home, in case the stars aren't out!
