Two historic cottages on 84 acres of stunning private coastal headland with their own little beach; tucked away at the very end of a quiet country road on the Wild Atlantic Way. Ideal for families, singles, couples, grandparents and friends who love the sea, walking, heritage, wildlife and the outdoors. 3km from the popular village of Portsalon with its pier, bar and famously beautiful Ballymastocker Beach. Fanad lighthouse, surfing, golf, fishing and horse riding nearby.

The space
Works best as a coastal escape for families and friends. Doagh Cottage is ideal for a family of up to 5, with up to 4 grandparents, older children, another couple or single friends staying in The Calf House. The cottages are also cosy enough for singles and couples wanting to escape by themselves.

Large mature garden. Own parking and patio. Driveway in shared with Crabbin Cottage, also listed on AirBnB.

Doagh Cottage sleeps up to 5 (king-size bedroom, twin bedroom with sloping ceilings, single gallery bed). The Calf House, which is open plan, is adjacent and sleeps up to 4 (double bedroom area, double sofa bed). Your main booking covers you for up to 5 guests sleeping in Doagh Cottage. Additional guests, who would sleep in The Calf House, are charged at €20 per person per night.

The cottages are tastefully restored traditional Irish buildings.

Doagh Cottage kitchen: electric cooker, microwave, dishwasher, fridge, dining table + 6 chairs.

The Calf House kitchenette: toaster, kettle, portable (one-ring) induction hob, under-counter fridge and freezer. The Calf House has a separate dining table + 4 dining chairs. Perfect for breakfasting separately and dining together.

Washing machine, drying rails. Bedlinen & towels provided. Pets welcome, not on chairs or beds please. Travel cot and highchair on request.

Other things to note
Due to the historic nature of the cottages there are some steps throughout and they are not wheelchair accessible. Steep cottage stairs so although we warmly welcome all children they are not ideal for very small people. Bedrooms are both ground and first floor. The single bed in Doagh Cottage is on a balcony ('sleeping loft') overlooking the sitting room.

Please bring your own basics (tea, coffee, condiments, oil etc) as we don’t keep these in the cottages.

There is a small shop at Doagh beg, 2.7 miles away, for your basic grocery needs. The nearest supermarkets are in Milford, 12 miles away.

Please also bring your own first aid kit.

Food and medical supplies are not kept in stock to ensure that nothing goes out of date and for health and safety reasons.

Please keep dogs under control - you are liable for any harm to livestock or wildlife.

Where you’ll be

Friendly and relaxed local area. Doaghcrabbin is the townland, Doaghbeg the nearest settlement, and the popular holiday resort of Portsalon, with its amazing beach - Ballymastocker / Warden - is the nearest village.

Walk over private rocky headland (marshy and steep in places, appropriate footwear is needed) to Drumnacraig, a beautiful sandy beach, in 15-20 minutes. Drive time to the same, very beautiful beach with golden sand and caves to explore is 5-10 minutes. If you drive, 5 minutes' further walking down a grassy lane is required to reach this nearest beach.

There's a chip van and coffee van at Portsalon (5 minutes, 3km). Relaxed lovely restaurants in Kerrykeel (25 minutes) or Rathmullan (35 minutes). Posh dining in Rathmullan House.

Golf at Portsalon (3 km).

Situated on the Wild Atlantic Way. Perfect location for discovering the beauty and history of the Fanad Peninsula and the whole of Donegal.

Grocery shop 3km. Supermarket shopping 20 minutes' drive.

We’ve been running the Doaghcrabbin cottages since 2013. This is our favourite place on earth. The sea, walks, wildlife, unspoilt landscapes, swimming, and our lovely neighbours, are the things we love best about it.
