Above-garage apartment with private entrance, full kitchen, full bathroom, loft sleeping quarters w/queen bed. Conveniently located on Century Drive on the way to Mt. Bachelor and 1.5 miles from Phil's Trail. Easy access to the Old Mill, West Side, downtown.
Our modern ohana (apartment) is situated above the garage of our main home with its own entrance. It has vaulted ceilings and has just been renovated with a fresh coat of paint throughout and laminate flooring. It is the perfect size for a single person or couple.
:: THE LIVING ROOM ::
The cozy living area contains a couch, coffee table, large flat-screen LED TV with DirecTV service and a DVD player. There is also a Bluetooth speaker to sync your iPad or phone to play your tunes. Two large windows provide plenty of light during the day and can be opened for fresh air.
:: THE KITCHEN ::
The ohana has a full kitchen complete with full size refrigerator, four burner stove/oven, and sink. It is stocked with local coffee beans, a coffee maker, french press, tea kettle, microwave, toaster, pots and pans, bakeware, utensils, glassware, dishes, basic spices, flour, sugar, balsamic vinegar, and olive oil. We have all the tools you need to make a quiet dinner at home.
:: THE BEDROOM ::
The bedroom loft space is super cozy with a vaulted ceiling and skylight. It is located up a half-flight of stairs off of the front door and contains a comfy queen size pillow-top mattress. There is open closet space on either side of the bed with hangers for your use along with two three-drawer dressers. If you have trouble squeezing by the sides of the bed around the closet, this space would not be a good fit for you. (See photos). The sleeping area also contains a sloped ceiling, so tall folks or those with a disability may have difficulty getting into the bed. Please take this into consideration before booking.
:: THE BATHROOM ::
For your convenience, we provide you with shampoo and conditioner, soap, toilet paper, towels, and wash cloths. There is a hair dryer under the sink as well as iron and small ironing board in the storage area in the bathroom.
:: OUTSIDE ::
The landing on the way up to the ohana has space to store a kayak or two or a few bikes. Note that this area is not protected by a roof so would be exposed to the elements. Our backyard is a shared space that you are welcome to enjoy.
Our ohana is registered and licensed in accordance with local laws. Guests have one (1) designated parking space on our property. If you plan on having more then one vehicle, please get prior approval from us before booking as there is very limited parking.
Guests are given a unique door code to the private entrance of the ohana. Check-in time is 3pm to 9pm and check-out time is 11am. We try to accommodate times outside of these hours, so please ask!
While the ohana has its own separate space, it is connected to the main home via a locked door in the bathroom, which will not be opened during your stay.
Interaction with guests
We are a very active family and attempt to meet our guests when possible. We also respect your privacy so please do not hesitate to reach out to us if you should need anything at all during your stay, even if we have not yet met in person. We are happy to provide recommendations for favorite activities, restaurants, and bars which are all consolidated in a Welcome Book on the coffee table inside. With two young kids and a lot of ongoing house projects, you'll often find us outside working in the yard, enjoying our space, or heading in and out. Again, please don't hesitate to reach out should you need anything. We prefer to be reached via text message if not in person.
Other things to note
Please remove shoes inside the chana to cut down on noise and dirt. There is a shoe rack located under the stairs inside the space or you can leave your shoes on the front porch.
Access to the ohana is through a shared gate that also leads to our backyard and the back of our home. With this in mind, we have a very friendly, older dog named Kimo who is often outside hanging out when the weather is nice. He will likely come and say hi to you if you're outside at the same time (or bark on occasion). We'd love to introduce you to him so that he knows who you are. Please ensure the gate is always closed so that he does not get out.
With two young, active children, you're likely to encounter bikes and play things in the driveway. Please don't mind the mess and be sure to watch your step! The kids typically wake up around 7am so you may hear some faint noise from the main home. (We haven't had any guests complain about noise.) Keeping the bathroom door closed helps reduce household sounds. Our home would not be a good fit for folks who want to party and be loud.
The kitchen is great for cooking, but not super great with ventilation when frying food. When cooking (particularly frying), please consider opening a window to allow ventilation. The ceiling fan and box fan can also be used to help circulate air.
We do not offer breakfast or cleaning services during your stay. There is a broom and dustpan located beside the fridge as well as cleaning products underneath the kitchen sink. There are local laundromats as well as cleaning services with delivery should you need clothes laundered.
We treat our guests with respect and hope you treat our home the same way.
The space accommodates two adults comfortably.
No other persons other than registers guests are allowed to stay overnight.
Please remove shoes inside the ohana to reduce wear and tear and noise. There is a shoe rack under the stairs inside the space or shoes can be left on the front porch.
No parties, smoking or drug use on the property.
Please open a window when cooking for help with ventilation (as needed, particularly frying).
Quiet hours start at 9pm.
Please always close the gate behind you in consideration of our dog.
Please do not remove towels or linens from the ohana. We recommend you bring your own beach towels.
There is only one (1) parking spot available for guests unless arrangements are made with us in advance of booking.
While our neighborhood is very safe, please lock up your car when you are not there to protect your valuables. We are not responsible for lost or stolen articles.
:: CHECK OUT ::
Before you leave, we kindly ask that you:
• Clean out/dispose of any open food containers in the fridge
• Wash all dishes and leave in strainer to dry
• Strip the bed and leave linens and used towels in the laundry basket in the bathroom
• Put all trash in trash receptacles located in bathroom and kitchen
• Put all recycling (paper, cans, glass) in the labeled container under the kitchen sink
• Turn off all lights, fan, heater, AC, electronics
• Send us an AirBNB message or text that you are leaving.
Please depart by 11am so we can prepare for our next guests. Late check-out may be available if the ohana is not booked that evening. Just ask!
We are an active family of four who love our town of Bend, Oregon. Summer is our favorite season in which we spend as much time outdoors camping, biking, hiking, going to the lakes, playing, attending to local festivals, and enjoying local beers. In the winter you'll find us on the mountain or patiently waiting for the warmer weather. We love traveling and visit a new national park each year.
As budget travelers ourselves, our hope is to open our home to those who'd like a more local experience that is budget-friendly. We are a busy family who may or may not get a chance to meet you (depending on our schedules), but we'd love to meet you if the chance arises. We've loved meeting everyone who has stayed with us!
