The accommodation was perfect and its views was breathtakingly beautiful. Thoroughly enjoyed our 5 nights here which was not long enough. Centrally located to many beautiful towns. Especially loved San Casciano.

I cannot say enough great things about this location. The pictures do not do it justice. The owners are very friendly and helpful. They live on the property but we're so quiet we thought we were alone. Everything we needed was close by and the bedroom especially was to die for. The bed was so darn comfy I had a hard time getting out of it...not to mention the view. Just like a painting. The kitchen had more in it than we knew what to do with..but we cooked ourselves w/fresh produce and meat we found in the local shops. We live to "go local" when we travel and this could not have been more authentic...yet with all the modern amenities ..even English channels in cable for nights w/wine by the fire!!! ADORED IT!!!!

It is difficult to find enough words of praise for this absolutely amazing and spotlessly clean B & B! Modern amenities abound - in-floor heat, high-end appliances and plumbing fixtures, comfy beds with duvets, new couches, tons of instant hot water, and even a high efficiency woodstove/fireplace with endless firewood provided! All of this luxury is blends perfectly in this delightfully creative & tastefully renovated building/barn. Strategically exposed & restored patches of the barn's rock walls, the original wooden ceiling beams & clay tiles, and the preserved window arches and details are just a few of the many authentic 'Tuscan barn' features in this cozy "home-away-from-home!" Carefully selected items from the past enhance the charm of the decor - such as the huge rough-hewn dining table & benches. Milking stools hold baskets of complimentary comfort items in the bathrooms. The original, carved barn door latch is artfully displayed in the sitting room. An antique desk is full of current maps and information on Tuscany. The BEST part of our stay however was meeting our wonderful hosts Vincenzo & Elizabeth! Elizabeth texted us just as we were approaching the property to direct us along the road (perfect timing!) and Vincenzo was waiting at the gate with a huge smile! We immediately felt like we were "home!" The fridge & pantry were stocked with a selection of local cheese & salami, eggs, ect... for a light dinner and breakfast - including local honey and homemade jams. Fresh bread was on the counter and flowers were on the table! There was also a bottle of Il Viotolone's very own olive oil - honestly the BEST we have ever tasted!! Our hosts were very respectful of our privacy and yet available whenever we needed them. In addition to providing two private garden areas for our use and enjoyment, they also invited us to explore their entire property and yard as if it was our own. We truly feel as if we now have our "own" Tuscan "home-away-from-home" and we are already looking forward to staying at Il Viotolone next (and every) time we visit Italy! Thank you Vincenzo and Elizabeth for making us feel so welcome and comfortable in your home, and for helping to make our romantic honeymoon trip to Italy a truly unforgettable vacation!

The reader might think we have lavished five stars because we are nice!. But that could not be further from the truth. We consider ourselves seasoned travellers. We could not fault the accommodation or the hosts. The Tuscan retreat has been meticulously thought out and executed. The interior furnishings were beautiful, along with the delightful landscaped gardens for us to enjoy. During our stay we even had a fresh apple cake baked for us. The location is a short and convenient drive to Florence, Siena and Greve. The local towns of San Casciano and Tavernelle had all you may require. We had a lovely stay. One last thing. Our four year old left without two dolls. Elizabeth chased us 5 km down the road to return "sally" and "monkey".

We had the most perfect stay!! It was an absolutely beautiful, spotless and peaceful home, with lovely gardens and amazing view. We hiked, cooked, explored the area and nearby towns, napped, and just overall had the ideal holiday. Oh - and the hosts were just perfect -- we couldn't ask for better. Next time we're staying longer!!

Response from Elizabeth:
Thanks David - yes I totally get your point about the hedge and the view - it is a balance/battle between privacy, not seeing too much of the studio roof below and the view! We can try to keep it a little lower. Thank you for mentioning this, it is always incredibly useful to have feedback. Warm wishes to you both. Elizabeth

Where and how do I begin to put into words the magic we experienced at Elizabeth and Vincenzo's charming home? We experienced pure bliss from the moment we arrived. The home is surrounded by perfectly arranged gardens and nooks to get lost in. The home opens up with a perfectly placed outdoor veranda to enjoy the view of mountains, olive trees, and vineyards. The living room includes a wood burning space heater, and the kitchen was more than we could have expected with all of the modern appliances we could need. Our hosts made us feel right at home with a bottle of wine, coffee, local honey, homemade jams, cheese, fresh bread, fruits and vegetables from their garden, and olive oil from their trees. Everything was artfully arranged and every single detail was well thought out. The bed and sheets were also incredibly comfortable. Beyond this, despite the fact that Elizabeth was out of town, Vincenzo was the epitome of a gracious host. He gave us complete privacy but was on hand if we had any questions or needed anything. He was incredibly kind and generous to us throughout our stay. Though the house was remote, we were able to find many activities to do in the area with his help. Renting a car would have probably made getting around easier, but then we wouldn't have been able to soak up the countryside as fully and spontaneously as we did! We do recommend the E-Bike company that they mention in the binder- they were really accommodating and it was an incredible and easy way to see the countryside. All in all, Elizabeth and Vincenzo's home was singularly the best part of our vacation experience.
