Converted pub Stratford East London

House - Private room · Corporation St, London, E15 3HE, United Kingdom

The Space

We're in E15, really close to Stratford, with five different tube lines minutes away.

Our house, which used to be a pub – The Corporation Arms – was built around 1905 and we've retained as many of the original features as possible. The bars are now our living and dining area, which open straight into our kitchen. This in turn looks out into our sheltered, walled garden; not massive, but quite big for London!

We have a large, sunny double room to let, which can be equipped with a cot if you need one.

Our street is quiet, but very well connected. We're close to all tube and rail lines via these tube stations: West Ham, Plaistow, Stratford and Abbey Road, so getting to any part of London is easy and fast – the City in 15 minutes, Waterloo in 20, the West End in 35.

Locally we're close to Westfield, the biggest urban shopping mall in Europe – if that's your thing – and there are good local shops, cafes and pubs which we can point you to.

  • Paul & Rita were very gracious hosts and welcomed us into their home as if we were old friends. Since we had never been to London before, we very much appreciated their many recommendations and helpful directions. We would definately consider staying with them again on our next stay in London. A graphic designer and writer, I've been running my own business for over 25 years – which is how long we (my wife, Rita, and two daughters Beatrice and Daisy) have been living in our converted pub. It's full of all sorts of old packaging and other ephemera, which the whole family collects. I also sing in a band – Creak – who play classic rock and blues, anything from Beatles to Black Keys. I also love movies and reading; I've recently been converted to Kindle, but still can't quite give up real books!
