Welcome to the TWISTED OAK CHALET!!
This fabulous multi-level mountain home offers 3 spacious corner bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms, is nicely tucked away above a tranquil road and among plenty of old growth Sugar Pines, Cedars, Firs and of course, a gorgeous old twisted oak tree right out front!! The first bedroom is downstairs and has a Queen size bed with comfy linens. One of the full bathrooms is also on this level. On the next level, you'll find the 2nd bedroom with a Queen size bed, vaulted ceilings and a private deck right outside. This level also has the 3rd bedroom with a full size bed, vaulted ceilings and a set of twin bunk beds, with equally comfy linens and a desk, in case the kids wish to do homework while on vacation ;-). There is a full bathroom on this level.
The living room has a Queen size sofa sleeper and love seat, perfect for cozying up after a long day of playing in the sun, snow or water. There's also a reclining leather chair, along with a rocking chair for grandma to knit your next Christmas sweater :-). Numerous windows provide spectacular views of the surrounding trees, distant forests and plenty of flying shenanigans provided by our resident hummingbirds, Harley and Harriett. Additional entertainment is provided by our 40' flat screen tv with roku streaming, dvd player and boombox with a plethora of cd's for your old school listening pleasure. Last but not least, there's a wonderful detached wood burning fireplace, to add ambiance and warmth to your winter evenings.
Adjacent to the large living room, there's an equally large and well stocked kitchen. The interior dining table easily seats 6, while the outside picnic table easily seats another 9. The very spacious deck has additional lounge seating, patio heaters for those chilly nights, along with a gas grill for cooking lots of steaks, chicken, fish, burgers, hot dogs and so much more. Just below the deck is the horseshoe pit and enough firewood to impress Paul Bunyan.
Downstairs is the fun family room, where gamblers and fancy women need to sign in with the captain. There's also a Queen size futon sleeper, dart board, lots of board games, cards, poker chips, foosball and a tv with dvd player.
For those that prefer to do laundry, there's a mud room/laundry room with full size washer/dryer, fishing poles and floaties for the kids to use. Don't forget to bring your own detergent.
The TWISTED OAK CHALET is VERY cozy and the deck is a wonderful place to have breakfast, happy hour, lunch, happy hour, dinner or one more happy hour each day. After all, when you're on vacation, you can never have too many happy hours!
It's the perfect setting for entertaining or just sitting around with friends/family. Relax on the deck with a drink and your loved ones, while hanging out with Arnie, our resident tree hugger bear, while watching the pine trees grow, pine cones fall, resident hummingbirds zip around, Squitchy the squirrel climbing the trees, Charlie the chipmunk, Billy the bat, the sunset, the clouds or the shooting stars. Either way, you're sure to have a fun and relaxing experience, whether reading a book, writing a book, scrapbooking, taking a nap or spotting one of numerous resident critters that call this place home.
There is central heating for those chilly nights, along with wifi and high speed internet. Because we're located in the community of Blue Lake Springs, you will have daily seasonal access to all the amenities available to residents (for a small fee) like: 2 lakes, a community pool, basketball court, bocce, ping pong, shuffleboard and tennis. There's also a golf course and 2 restaurants, all within about 1 mile away. The town of Arnold is less than 5 miles away and offers a supermarket, post office, barber shop, library, hardware store, 3 gas stations, several restaurants, banks and more shopping.
Nearby activities include: Alpine Lake (one of my favorite spots) for fishing, boating, swimming, hiking and picnics! Tree huggers will LOVE Calaveras Big Trees State Park for hiking and more picnics. The area hosts numerous events each year, such as the Bear Valley music festival, local wineries offer summer concert series, the quaint historic town of Murphys, boasting small shops, yummy restaurants and lots of local wine tasting.
Easy day trips include visits to Yosemite, Markleeville or Lake Tahoe. If you're a photographer or motorcycle enthusiast, then this will be PARADISE for you. Take a scenic drive over Ebbetts, Monitor and Sonora Pass, for truly spectacular twisty roads and stunning vistas!!! And don't forget highway 49 between Oakhurst and Angels Camp for additional motorcycle riding fun. History buffs will appreciate the nearby Sierra Nevada Logging Museum and serious hikers will love the easy access to the Pacific Crest Trail.
Go spelunking in one of several nearby caverns or zip lining through a canyon. Check out one of the numerous natural hot springs. Visit the historic gold mining towns of Columbia or Jamestown, where the kids can pan for gold, check out a blacksmith or maybe just ride back in time on a horse drawn stagecoach.
In the winter months you can go skiing (downhill or cross country) or sledding at nearby Bear Valley, or snowshoeing along several trails with one of those trails located directly behind our cabin!
Angels Camp has its annual Frog Jump extravaganza, while Murphys has its annual St. Patty's Day parade and Arnold has a real hometown fourth of July parade down main street followed by a community barbeque in the town square.
TWISTED OAK CHALET is the perfect base camp for you, your friends and family to enjoy the Sierra Nevada mountains and everything they have to offer. We've even hosted groups of scrappers with ample room for all their scrap booking stuff.

The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
I love natural light and this property has plenty of it. With so many windows upstairs and an expansive view deck, I spend most of my time either in the living room or on the deck with friends and family, enjoying the fresh air, views, sunsets, stars and entertaining critters.
Please note that this cabin is NOT intended to accommodate large volumes of visitors. It is not priced so low that it's always booked, with crowds of people coming and going every single weekend. Such places are subject to a great deal of wear and tear and it shows. This isn't that kind of place. It is lovingly cared for and we want our guests to be comfortable and make themselves at home, in a place where everything is nice, clean and in good condition. Also note that many of those "bargain priced" cabins may have lost most of their trees, due to 6 years of drought and bark beetle infestations. Our cabin is still surrounded by numerous tall, old growth Sugar Pines, White Firs, Ponderosas and Cedars.
So come experience the alluring serenity of the TWISTED OAK CHALET and see why we call this place HOME.
