We were met by the caretaker at the ferry and driven to the apartment. Everything was as expected. While little English was spoken by the staff, being understood was not difficult. Every one was friendly and helpful. The small town is lovely, as are the beaches. We met Cynthia when she returned from her trip, she was very welcoming and friendly. We highly recommend the apartment for a quiet, restful stay. HELPFUL HINT Be sure to make reservations, especially for dinner, or go without as places to eat are limited. Be sure to order fish and chips at Cynthia's restaurant in town.

This is in a small intimate town of locals and the 'B&B' here is rustic, to say the least. It is Island living, which automatically lacks comforts that this price should reflect. The kitchen was not equipped for proper cooking, there was limited 'warm-ish' water and the towels were rough so after a full day of sun don't feel good after a cold shower. Some basics for a price reflective of higher. Overall good but not what I expected. The views and town are what saved this for us.

Response from Cynthia:
Thank you for your review, we will use your comments to improve where we can. We encourage guests to communicate with us when they are at Cerrito to tell us what they may be lacking in equipment so we can replace or offer something to improve your stay. Many of our guests do not use the kitchen at all since they come on a beach vacation, we offer food onsite and at the beach restaurant Calaloo, breakfast on the balcony of Cerrito (hours posted in the restaurant area). Sometimes guests will ask for additional pots etc. from our main kitchen and we are happy to offer them. Regarding the hot water, we have an on demand hot water system for each apartment, if there was not enough hot water we could have raised the temperature immediately. Regarding the 100% cotton towels, we are a sustainable tourism business (hiring and training local labor and buying as much as we can from the people on the island) and eco-friendly. This results in all of our towels and bedding are washed in an eco friendly semi-automatic machine with limited chemicals and air dried on lines in the sun. This will leave the towels sometimes crisp; we use no chemical softeners. We could opt for a blend of towel fabric but then we could not offer 100% cotton. We would have been happy to try to find a substitute for you had you let us know. Taboga is not inexpensive, we are located on a small island where the prices/costs for everything is 25% to 50% higher than the mainland, as well labor cost is 30% higher than the interior of Panama. The view is awesome from Cerrito Tropical La Palma Apartment, and we love our adopted historical humble village.

We stayed with Cynthia for a week, and it really couldn't have been better. The apartment was spacious and had an amazing view of the harbor and beach, and the hammock was a perfect way to read and laze in the afternoons. The bedroom was air conditioned and dark and easy to sleep in. And the food! Cynthia and Hiddo cooked some wonderful dinners and snacks and cold beers were always available. Taboga itself has limited dining/activity choices, but is incredibly authentic and relaxed. If you're looking to spend some downtime with maybe light hiking and casual beach days, you really can't do any better.

I love travel and have lived around the world over the past 25 years, now settled with my family in Panama.
We love Taboga Island and the quiet relaxation it offers. Plus the quaint village is over 500 years old with its own special seaside culture.
We are located on a breezy ocean view hillside, beside the rainforest, 5 minutes walk from the beach- We have a Cafe onsite, a tropical garden (which we love), and various tropical fruit trees onsite. From our balconies you can see the ships waiting to enter the Panama Canal.
I offer our rooms complete with staff onsite 24 hours a day. We send someone to the dock to meet all of our guests.
