Discover Berlin for 1 Euro/night*
in the smallest house in the world.
A project initiated by Le-Mentzel
in cooperation with BMW Guggenheim LAB, airbnb and eastseven Hostel

Apply now for your stay in the One SQM House - the smallest house of the world on rolls - and make yourself a home whereever you want in Berlin.
This is how you can apply:
Visit the Faaaceb ook pinboard (pinnwand) of EastSevenBerlinHostel or contact me
and tell us "I need the ONE SQM HOUSE because ... "

You want to wake up on a roof? In front of the Berlin Parliament? You want to give singing lessons? You want to use it as a kitchen desk to make pancakes for homeless (we would organise cooking plates)? Sky is the limit! The most original, awesome and provocative ideas will make it. You can also apply with another friend for two houses.

The One SQM House is a wooden waterproof construction with a slide-window and a lockable slide-door and a small desk perfect for your laptop. There is a chair (Berliner Hocker) and a matress 180 cm x 70 cm inside of it. Don't worry. You don't have to sleep standing. You can turn the house easily to the side and then sleep in it with a comfortable angle for your back. It's perfect for people up to 1.75 m. Special: The house is on rolls and it fits through doors, elevators and even the Berlin Metro Car (U-Bahn). So you can move to your favorite spot in Berlin without a car. One house weighs 40 kg so you can move it without any help. Wake up at the Weinbergpark-Lake or sleep at the beachbars at the Spree-River. Roll it in the apartment of your best friend (it fits through house doors, because its just 1.99 m high and 70 cm wide. Whereever you want to go. This house will always give you privacy and shelter.
The Eastseven Hostel close to U-Bahnstation Senefelder platz (2 Min walk) in the heart of Berlin (next to the BMW Guggenheim LAB) is your homebase, where you can leave your luggage and use the kitchen and the shower. In the garden of Eastseven you can park the house (in case of stormy weather).
The One SQM House is a social Do-It-Yourself-project provided by the BMW Guggenheim Lab. Its inventor Van Bo Le-Mentzel, a berlin-based architect, wants to enable people from all over the world with low income but a big curiosity to experience Berlin and the program of the BMW Guggenheim Lab (all workshops free).

* You pay: 1 Euro/night. This includes: The Key to a One SQM House, use of kitchen and showers at Eastseven Hostel and Wifi in BMW Guggenheim Lab area. Because of AIRBnB Policy we have to post 10 Euro at minimum. But you get the difference paid out in cash.

The smallest house of the world, invented by Berlin-based architect Van Bo Le-Mentzel for the Guggenheim LAB - an open air festival about design, innovation, Do It Yourself culture and gentrification in Berlin-Prenzlauer Berg. The One SQM House is located on the Pfefferberg directly in front of U-Bahnstation "Senefelder Platz" (1 Min) in a cultural environment with bars, cafes, galleries. Experience Berlin in a new way. Stay in the ONE sqm house - an architectural project, which is part of the Guggenheim LAB program. You can transport it also in the metro (it really fits in elevator and subway-car-doors). Of course herefor we dont take any responsibility because officially it is not allowed. The perfect stay for artists, rebellists, occupy activists, adventurers, students, poor, homeless. One night cost 1 Euro per night. No Joke. We had to set 10 Euro per night because of Airbnb policy. But you will get the money back. Usage of a washing room, bathroom and a toilet (which is NOT located in the house) in a hostel next to the ONE SQM House is included. Important note: Please bring your sleeping bag!

HOUSE RULES (East Seven Hostel)
• No construction material should lie around

• Broken houses should not be in our garden nor in front of our house

• No loudness in the night - not in the garden nor in front of our house.

• No visitors after 10 pm in the garden

• No unregistered people in the hostel – please always tell the reception.

• Keep the place clean and neat.

• We want every sleeping guest immediately after getting up to put the house in the day position and store the sleeping stuff out of everybody’s sight. (for example: close the door of the house)

We think it is not too much, but if you don´t like it you are always free to move the house (it is mobile on wheels) to wherever it fits better to your performance. Please note that we don´t do the warden thing like giving you warnings all the time – we just do the things if necessary. We still think we are the nice guys as you can use everything in the hostel like WiFi, bathrooms, kitchen, lounge – and the one EURO doesn´t make it a business for us, it is a support for a project we like. Please respect us, so we respect you.
