Moments from the heart of Falmouth, this five-bedroom home is full of character, just a 15-minute walk to the beach and 5 minutes to the pier - perfect for retreats and winter getaways.
The Old School House combines spacious period interiors with modern comfort. Two reception rooms, a cozy lounge with wood-burning stove, and a kitchen with breakfast bar make it ideal for relaxing or entertaining. Upstairs, the hall and main bedroom offer lovely views over the Fal River.
The space
The Old School House is a spacious and characterful early Victorian home, offering a unique blend of history and comfort. With two good-sized adjoining reception rooms—one a drawing/dining room and the other a cozy lounge with a wood-burning stove and patio doors leading to the garden—it’s perfect for relaxing after a day exploring.
The Old School House has been thoughtfully styled, with books and art and cosy spots to curl up with the papers, and retains many original features. As Skye McAlpine says, “I always love something that’s a little bit chipped… cracked or faded, or that feels like it’s got stories to tell.”
Warm and welcoming, the house is ideal for gatherings, slow mornings (perhaps with coffee from a Nespresso vertuo machine), and memorable stays.
The garden features a seating area while the modern kitchen, complete with a breakfast bar, is ideal for casual dining. The house has been lightly updated (including new mattresses) while retaining its original charm.
BEDROOM BASICS:
1 x king-size bedroom (with river views & a wash basin)
2 x double rooms, each with a double bed
1 double room with a single bed and a futon chair pullout bed.
1 double room with high-rise top single bunk bed and ikea single day bed underneath.
Cot available at the wnd of the upstairs hall in cupboard.

Requests for additional guests, or well behaved pets, should be made at the enquiry stage.
Upstairs, the master bedroom enjoys stunning views, complemented by four additional double bedrooms. There are two bathrooms (one on each floor). The ground-floor bathroom has a monsoon shower and a utility area with a washing machine and dryer.
Falmouth’s sandy beaches, ferry services, and vibrant town centre are all within easy reach, making The Old School House an ideal base to explore the coast, enjoy top-notch restaurants and bars, or soak up local culture at the gallery, museum, or arts centre.
This is a unique and welcoming family home steeped in history—even featuring a bell tower! It’s not a polished holiday cottage, but that’s part of its charm. Expect some signs of character in this Victorian house, which is, above all, a warm and inviting space to unwind.
