It was fine, not great and not exactly as pictured. The room smelled like cigarette smoke and the pillows smelled like bad body odor. Couldn't use them. The place is 25 minutes from Old Town by foot, not 10 minutes. The host is kind and helpful but the room odors and the misleading description of "10 minutes from old town" were big turn offs. Oh and the shower was cold after 5 minutes.

Alem made us feel incredibly welcome from the very start! We took a ferry from Bari to Dubrovnik that arrived pretty early in the morning but we were able to drop out stuff off at the apartment (where Alem also lent us an umbrella) so we could continue on with our day! The apartment was very clean and is just a short walk to Old Town Dubrovnik and the walk was very scenic so we did not mind. Alem was very accessible, when our wifi wasn't working (because I had unplugged the router) Alem came right down and fixed it for us. The day we left we had an early flight to catch so we asked Alem whether we would be better taking a taxi or a bus: he said bus and was kind enough to drop us off at the station at 7am! We would happily stay with Alem again and absolutely recommend staying with him to anyone looking to enjoy the beautiful city of Dubrovnik!

Place was clean, not exactly easy to find but Alem did meet us to bring us over from the nearby area. Toilet bowl is wobbly as others reviewed previously. Alem gave off a unfriendly feel though when he started talking about gentlemanliness and his views on carrying of luggage (I was travelling with a friend and we were carrying our own luggage). It was goodwill on his part to offer to take our luggage but the way he brought the message across was not in any way pleasant.

Alem was hilarious, a good guy with honest tips. He works at a hotel, so he knows the right advice to give to travelers. The apartment looked better than pictured! The kitchen was fully stocked so we saved money by getting groceries and cooking. Also, eat at Vita Bella pizza right below the apartment, very cheap eats in expensive Dubrovnik. The terrace was beautiful and it was nice being in a local area of town away from the tourists.

Apartment is a little dated and rough around the edges. Towels provided are very small. Toilet was wobbly. There is hot water but we turned the switch on for it and waited 30 minutes and the hot water only lasted about 1 minute. WiFi was spotty.
