Our family's century-old Fan District row house is a great base for exploring Richmond and beyond. Three bedrooms give you plenty of room. High ceilings, pocket doors and original hardwood floors mean you staying in a piece of Richmond history. **We are open to 2017 exchanges**

The space

**Dear summer 2017 guests: we are open to exchanges! (You stay here free, we stay in your place for free.) If you have a place at a beach or a major east coast city hit me up!**

**I waive the cleaning fee if you book more than one night**

Our home was built in 1912 in the historic Fan district of Richmond. The home was renovated in 2008 with new, modern heating and air conditioning, but it still retains details like original crown molding, pocket doors and 100-year-old wood flooring throughout.

Bedroom 1 has a queen bed.
Bedroom 2 has a double bed.
Bedroom 3/office has a queen-size air mattress.
The nursery has a crib that you are welcome to use.

Cozy up to the gas fireplace in winter or hang out on the front porch summer. We live on a very active street. You'll run into lots of locals here, which means our front porch is the best people watching spot in the city.

Our home is walking distance from the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, the Virginia Historical Society, Cary Town and tons of fabulous restaurants.

Our home is available on weekends throughout the year. If you are interested in a long weekend or a week around holidays, please contact me, we might be able to make arrangements.

I don't usually book more than about six months out. At this baby-having time in our lives we can't predict a year out, and I don't want to have to cancel on someone because something comes up. Thank you for understanding.

Guest access

Guests have access to every room in the house.

Interaction with guests

We generally have no face-to-face interaction with guests. We pack up and head out before you arrive and don't return until after check out.

Other things to note

I will waive the cleaning fee if you book more than one night.

For allergy sufferers: We prefer to clean with few chemicals, and our linens are washed in fragrance free detergent.

Also of note is why you might NOT want to stay in our home. Ours is a neat and clean home in a safe city neighborhood, but it is our main residence and it is in the city. There are toys and side projects around the house. Party hardy college students walking home from the bars can be loud at night. The house will be clean when you arrive, but I am positive that right now there is a shelf somewhere that needs dusting. Our home is more "like staying at a friend's house" and less like a boutique BnB or cookie cutter hotel experience. If you are cool with that, then welcome to our home, friend!

This house was absolutely perfect for my holiday in Richmond VA! Great location with convenience stores, restaurants and unique shopping all in walking distance. Amanda was a great host and we had lovely banana bread waiting for us. I would stay again and recommend this house to others.

Very clean house. Great location in the Fan. Porch is great for nightcaps and people watching. The noise on the weekends from adjacent clubs and such is a bit of an issue in the Master BR but totally expected given the location. I'd stay again!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Amanda's place! It was conveniently located to many of the restaurants/bars that we went to during our stay. The house had so much character to it as well. Amanda was definitely a super host and helped our check-in process go as smoothly as possible. I highly recommend this place if you are looking to add that special touch to your Richmond trip!

This place was exactly what we were looking for. We came for a bridal party and it was perfect. Amanda was quick to respond to us, the location was great and the place was clean and roomy. It was really nice sitting on the patio and talking to the locals walking up and down the street, we even learned a little history of the neighborhood. Definitely recommend this place!

Amanda is a very gracious host and will do all she can to help your stay be all that you hope for. We wanted a place where our 2 1/2 year old grandson would feel at home and he did - lots of toys and outdoor play area helped us not worry about his hurting any priceless pieces :) It's also very helpful that a gas station/grocery store is across the street for anything you forget.

At 30 I "retired" from the Federal Reserve to spend more time with my husband, Aaron, and our little boy, help run our graphic design business ( and generally enjoy life. Now we have three kids and I'm back in grad school working on a PhD in history. I love to read books to our kids, go on bike rides, plan Vacation Bible School at our church, and of course, travel.

We're experienced home exchangers and love to host guests in our home. Here you'll be right in the middle of the action in this vibrant, historic and tattooed city with everything you need for a comfortable stay. While you're in our home we'll probably either be back home in Southside Virginia (where we both grew up) or exploring some exciting corner of the world.
