Drake and Karen were generous hosts! The boat was clean and equipped! It was peaceful to wake up on the water each morning to see the sun rise! We really enjoyed our stay.

Because of the storm, we were upgraded to the Cabrini (yes, we planned our trip and it ended up to happen right on the weekend when Tropical Storm Cindy hit). Even though there was a really heavy storm, we felt NONE of it. It was the first time my daughter and I have ever stayed on a boat and it exceeded our expectations. Drake is a fantastic host and even called to check in on us during the storm (another neighbor was also nice to us and let us know he was also available if we needed anything). He lives just a few boats over and we saw him several times during our stay. Now, for the boat! If you have any sort of mobility issues, it might not be the best for you because you have to climb down a small ladder to get into the cabin. We, however, found it really cool! The Cabrini has a lot of space! There are several sleeping areas, tv with surround sound, two bathrooms, an eating area, and small kitchen (if you've ever stayed in an RV, this will feel similar). The boat even has wifi (which was a life saver when we were stuck indoors due to bad weather). We had a great view of the water and even saw a few rainbows! The boat is super close to NASA, Kemah boardwalk, and about a 45 minute drive to Moody Gardens and the Galveston sea wall. There are plenty of shops and restaurants in the area. I definitely recommend staying here! As a matter of fact, my daughter keeps asking when we are staying there again. The Cabrini is an amazing place to experience and we hope to be back soon. :)

We had actually rented the 31' sail boat. The current guest decided to extend their stay, so Drake moved us to the 44' ketch, Cabrini. This sailboat was custom built in 1969 and the interior is beautifully fitted with loads of teak wood. He showed us around, and explained how everything worked. Bathrooms are quite different (compact) than a land based restroom, but we did just fine. Moreover, there are nice showers and restrooms at the marina if one prefers. The marina also has a nice pool. Right across from the boat is a sort of floating "Garden Patio" that Drake has built with a few potted plants and palms and a couple chairs. Great spot for sitting and watching birds, fish jump, and even a small alligator that showed up cruising around the marina. Drake also has a canoe and a kayak. I paddled around the marina and out into the lake one morning when the water was dead calm. Very nice stay, very relaxing, and a nice change of pace from the typical motel/hotel room.

Drake and Karen were great hosts. They made sure we had everything we needed upon check in and they live right across the dock so communication is easy. I absolutely recommend any of their boats to anyone who likes adventure and/or desires something a little different from traditional accomodations. We will be repeat customers for sure!

It was a great pleasure to stay on this boat in a quiet marina. Drake and Karen are charming hosts; they ensured we had everything we needed and we did indeed feel well looked after. Particularly delightful was being taken out for an evening sail! When at the dock the cockpit is shaded and provides a most congenial place to relax and observe the various birds (we saw green herons, egrets, cormorants, and pelicans, but different species may be in residence for your visit). We wouldn't hesitate to return.
