I loved Chiara & Simone's place - quaint, lovely, very clean, and the best part is Chiara and Simone are great hosts. Each of them was there to help every which way they can (I encountered an issue with the water heater and they were so responsive), and I didn't mind it at all, it added to the whole experience of living in Rome :) The room I stayed in (the bigger one of 2) was very nice, perfect size for me (or for even a couple). The apartment is smallish but super lovely, and it has everything one could need. The neighborhood is okay, pretty safe - I walked home every night. A bit of a walk from the central area (about 30 mins) but one could take public transportation easily. 12 min walk to the Colosseo :) And super conveniently close to Termini (only 2 stops away on the metro or 10-15 min walk). Would most definitely stay here again.

The first thing I would say is that the ad gives the illusion that you are in a room sharing a house with the host couple - this is not the case - it's an apartment they own and they rent out the two bedrooms on Airbnb. This was an issue for me as you're never quite sure what another Airbnb guest will be like where as hosts try their best to make your stay as good as possible so if I would have known this I probably would have booked elsewhere. It also ended up that the other room was rented to a middle aged man. As a woman traveling alone I am definitely not okay with this and I couldn't sleep the first night worried - although the room locks it's just not a nice thing to experience especially when the man would sit and wait for me to get home every night which I thought was particularly creepy and would ask me why I lock my door. He also left dirty dishes everywhere as well as his dirty underwear and socks and toilet paper all over the bathroom. He also had showers around midnight and would use the blow dyer. When I talked to the hosts about this their response was "would you like us to ask him to be more polite" instead of saying "we will tell him to keep it down after a certain time and your dirty clothing should not be left in shared space". As I only had a few days left when I talked to them about this I let it go. Other then that I would also point out if you don't read the very last sentence of the ad you'll miss that you're not allowed to cook or use the dish washer at this accommodation. It also to me isn't right in the centre. Yes you're a 15-20 minute walk to colosseum but the colosseum is at the very bottom of all the sites you want to see in Rome. And if you want to see St. Peters Basilica it is an hour walk or more. So as long as you don't mind walking it is fine but if you're a woman traveling alone walking, especially at night, men are very aggressive and the area between the accommodation and colosseum doesn't feel safe at night. The room is very spacious and has air-conditioning. The hosts were fast to respond to any messages I sent and were also good about working with me because my flight was delayed and I arrived later at night. Just get them to show you the front door as if you don't have the key a certain way the door won't push open properly. They have tons of amenities in the bathroom for your use both male and female. To me the sheets constantly felt damp/greasy - I don't know if this was just me.

Response from Chiara, Simone & Daniele:
Well i would like publish the answer to you Caitilin. First of all i would like to remind you that in the add it is written that is a shared house and we use to remind to our guest this thing before taking the reservation and we did the same with you. I want to remind you too that you could not think that we lived there because, when we were talking about your arrival time here on air bnb i told you that , seen that your flight was late in the evening, my husband would come to welcome you at the flat but than he would have to sleep just for that night in the other room because we live 2 hours far from Rome. So i think it was quiet clear that we don't leave in Rome. About the other guest i'm sorry that you had problem with him but it is not our guilt. After your reporting to me about his behavior my husband come to the flat to see the situation and he found just a pair of soks in the bathroom hung out to dry and a towel on the ground. Than my husband sent a message to the other guest to tell him not to leave his things in common space but i didn't tell you because i thougth that it was better not to disturb you and that the important thing was that he would not leave things in public spaces. About the fact that it was a man i want just to say that we had girls/women staying with boys/men in the flat at the same time and no one has ever had anything to say about it because if i tell you that the flat is shared is obvious that you can share with anyone. I think that if you you decide to go in a shared house you agree to share the common areas with whoever happens. If you are not willing to share with whoever happens you should take a hotel room. About the front door i'm sorry but you are the firts having a problem with it. No visitor has ever reported there anything about it. The same for the sheets! we use to wash them every time that a guest leaves, with high temperature, detergent and softener and iron them personally. And No visitor has ever told us anything bad about. About the location and the use of kitchen and wash dishes i think that the add is clear. I even told you in our conversation on air bnb that if you needed some other information about everything i would be pleasure to help you. But you didn't ask for anything. I want also to say here that you first booked for 10 nights and than you changed your mind after days but we have been wery accomodating and changed the booking as it was right with our rules of modifying booking. I think that we act with you as we ever did with the other guests we had and noone else before you has never had anything so bad to say about us. We had a lot of nice reviews as anyone can see on our pages. I'm really sorry that you had so a bad time in our flat. We did our best of all on which we could intervene, hospitality, communication, availability etc .. and on this we should be judged. The remaining negative aspects concern things or that you misinterpreted without asking additional explanations, or things that are beyond our control and I think it is not proper on your part bring up these things as our failings.

Communication was excellent from start to finish. Excellent directions to flat, there to meet us on time, and even provided directions to Tivoli when we asked. The flat was exactly as described. We loved the quiet seclusion back on the courtyard away from the street traffic noise. The flat was utterly charming and was in a great location to the metro and the coliseum. We wouldn't have changed a thing about our hosts or the flat. We will definitely return to stay here again.

I had a wonderful stay in Rome made even better by staying at Chiara and Simone's place! First of all I cannot thank Simone enough for his patience and kindness helping me get to their flat. I had an early morning flight and this didn't seem to be a problem for them. In fact they were very accommodating. Reaching their place was very easy and a quick walk from termini train station. The neighbourhood was central but not too noisy. Plus the courtyard to their home was so pretty and quiet. Simone greeted me at the flat and gave me a brief orientation and fresh towels. My room was lovely, bright and spacious. Plenty of room for my things and the bed was very comfortable after a long morning of travel. The entire flat was clean with all amenities easily found. Getting to main attractions in Rome was relatively easy with the colosseum nearby and the metro steps away from the flat. At the end of busy sight-seeing days it was a nice place to come back to. I stayed for 5 nights with another person occupying the other room. This wasn't an issue for me. Simone helped me arrange a taxi back to the airport as I struggled with this. I was very grateful for the quick replies and assistance:) overall a great experience!

We stayed in Rome at the Golden Dome Colosseum for 3 days and it was an amazing experience! We walked from from Termini and Simone welcomed us below the apartment! We were with a bottle of wine at home. The house is very comfortable and it does feel like our own cosy apartment! Apart from this, the house is very well maintained, clean and has required stuff to eat at our disposal. Moreover, the bathroom and the shower is also very well maintained. The linen is clean. You can also use the washer! We had no issues in the three days we stayed. Simone and Chiara are perfect hosts. They are not around but are always available on email/ message to reply to your queries. The location of this bnb is perfect. There is an illy right below the bnb. you can have your fresh hot cuppa in the morning with some delicious croissants before heading out to see the historic and intricate city, Rome. Thank you Simone and Chiara! Loved the lavender good luck charm :) Best wishes, Nishad and Varadayini
