Pool, 2/3 patios, property about 500 sqm, 3 floors. Rooms in total 9, (6/7 bedrooms 3 baths + 1 extra toilet.) Big kitchen-living room with fireplace, + library + huge living room on 2 floor. Cosy and grand!
Casa Lella is a grand old house in a quiet narrow street in the middle of the old town in an authentic, vivid Andalusian town. Shops, restaurants, bakeries, delicatessen, supermarkets only some few minutes walk away. The Mediterranean beaches 4-5 km. Lies ONLY 20 minutes east of Malaga City. Our house has 3 floors and contains 9 rooms (6/7 bedrooms) 3 with double, the rest single beds plus baby cot. Being a very typical so called casa señoral or grand house (even though a bit on the "smallish" side for this definition) two rooms are inner ones, so we have installed windows in the doors to the rooms and just outside are windows. 2/3 patios. Pool, 3 baths, 1 extra toilet etc. The kitchen/living room is very well equipped. TV with Spanish and international channels. Fireplaces and wood burning stove. Rangemaster cooker. Wireless WIFI (fiberoptic). Additional living room/library. We provide bedlinen and towels, of course, and also beach towels and some parasols. After Semana Santa, The Holy Week (the processions pass through our streets - SPECTACULAR!!!) the wax from the candles the car wheels make squeaky sounds ... part of the folklore of Andalucia!
All guests are being welcomed as if you were family. You might want to rent it EXCLUSIVELY (6 person minimum) or enjoy the company of other travelers like you, depending on your needs, season, number of guests etc. Perfect for family get togethers, group of friends spending holidays or maybe a long weekend together. Prices vary with season, please contact us for details! When we have small groups we sometimes close some of the rooms and one bathroom. But all guests have full access to the patios, pool, kitchen living rooms library of course.
Interaction with guests
We want people to feel welcome and AT HOME and share our love for this town and Andalusia. We are not always present, then you will be received by one of our English/Spanish speaking (if needed we have friends that speak French and German as well) friends that will make you feel at home, help and advice you. We are easy to reach by phone or mail for the smallest or the biggest thing. This old house has been built for the Andalusian coastal climate with very thick walls. We have chosen (for health reasons) NOT to install air condition but live with the architecture built for this climate (very thick walls for example). It can get hot in summer and a bit cool in winter. In summer we use electric fans and in winter ovens and the wood burning stove. Part of the Andalucian folklore; after the Semana Santa, Easter processions (that passes through our street) the candle leaves dripping and makes a squeaky sound when cars pass. Olé!
Other things to note
Enjoy Andalusia and Eastern Costa del Sol! Delve in all things Andaluz and Spanish. Velez-Malaga lies in a beautiful open valley (vega) surrounded by cultivated hills and huge mountains. Great for walks, trekking, horse riding, bike rides in the mountains or along the beaches beside the obvious beach life. The town is full historical monuments as in the rest of our region, Axarquia, a part of the Malaga province. Malaga town is vivid, interesting and is filled with cultural and culinary offers. Great shopping as well! Granada (with the magnificent Alhambra less than 1,5 hours drive, Sierra Nevada ski-resort 1,45 min, Cordoba 2 hours.
Go to bars and restaurants with lots of Spaniards, try new food, wine, or queue up for fresh fish at the fishmonger (in Andalusia a queue is not hassle, it is a social occasion!) and make lunch at home. Lunch is nearly a religion and Saturday and Sunday in particular is a social event. Starts at 14 abouts. I say again ENJOY! (Never judge a Spanish town between 14.00 and 17.00. It seems dead but is just because EVERYONE are eating and relaxing.) Velez-Malaga is very quiet in the summer, everyone and their grandmother gravitates towards the sea and Torre del Mar and other coastal towns both daytime and evening/night. Lots of restaurants/ bars and late night open places i Torre del Mar.
We would like people to behave with kindness and respect. Spaniards and Andalusians in particular are very social and accepting (one of many reasons we love it here!) Especially in summer Andaluzes stay up rather late but if you stay in the patio talking ALL night (like we do sometimes) best not shout exactly... Get my drift?

Endlessly interested in Spain, Andalucia in particular: the people, culture, history, politics. The food and wine! My interest for people is not limited to Spain, of course, looking forward to receiving new and lovely people from - wherever!
Hopefully a warm hostess. Love making people feel at home and welcome, very interested in what others out there are like and like. Welcome!
