About this listing

Cosy and grand! PERFECT FOR 2-3 generation FAMILY holidays is what former visitors express! Lovely big old house full of character with pool in the old town centre of authentic Andaluz town. 35 min from Malaga airport. Up to 14 (prices vary). 4-5 km to The Mediterranean/Torre del Mar. Pool, 2/3 patios, property about 500 sqm, 3 floors. Rooms in total 9, (6/7 bedrooms 3 baths + 1 extra toilet.) Big kitchen-living room with fireplace, + library + huge living room on 2 floor. Cosy and grand!

The space

Casa Lella is a grand old house in a quiet narrow street in the middle of the old town in an authentic, vivid Andalusian town. Shops, restaurants, bakeries, delicatessen, supermarkets only some few minutes walk away. The Mediterranean beaches 4-5 km. Lies ONLY 20 minutes east of Malaga City. Our house has 3 floors and contains 9 rooms (6/7 bedrooms) 3 with double, the rest single beds plus baby cot. Being a very typical so called casa señoral or grand house (even though a bit on the "smallish" side for this definition) two rooms are inner ones, so we have installed windows in the doors to the rooms and just outside are windows. 2/3 patios. Pool, 3 baths, 1 extra toilet etc. The kitchen/living room is very well equipped. TV with Spanish and international channels. Fireplaces and wood burning stove. Rangemaster cooker. Wireless WIFI (fiberoptic). Additional living room/library. We provide bedlinen and towels, of course, and also beach towels and some parasols. After Semana Santa, The Holy Week (the processions pass through our streets - SPECTACULAR!!!) the wax from the candles the car wheels make squeaky sounds ... part of the folklore of Andalucia!

Guest access

All guests are being welcomed as if you were family. You might want to rent it EXCLUSIVELY (6 person minimum) or enjoy the company of other travelers like you, depending on your needs, season, number of guests etc. Perfect for family get togethers, group of friends spending holidays or maybe a long weekend together. Prices vary with season, please contact us for details! When we have small groups we sometimes close some of the rooms and one bathroom. But all guests have full access to the patios, pool, kitchen living rooms library of course.

Interaction with guests

We want people to feel welcome and AT HOME and share our love for this town and Andalusia. We are not always present, then you will be received by one of our English/Spanish speaking (if needed we have friends that speak French and German as well) friends that will make you feel at home, help and advice you. We are easy to reach by phone or mail for the smallest or the biggest thing. This old house has been built for the Andalusian coastal climate with very thick walls. We have chosen (for health reasons) NOT to install air condition but live with the architecture built for this climate (very thick walls for example). It can get hot in summer and a bit cool in winter. In summer we use electric fans and in winter ovens and the wood burning stove. Part of the Andalucian folklore; after the Semana Santa, Easter processions (that passes through our street) the candle leaves dripping and makes a squeaky sound when cars pass. Olé!

Other things to note

Enjoy Andalusia and Eastern Costa del Sol! Delve in all things Andaluz and Spanish. Velez-Malaga lies in a beautiful open valley (vega) surrounded by cultivated hills and huge mountains. Great for walks, trekking, horse riding, bike rides in the mountains or along the beaches beside the obvious beach life. The town is full historical monuments as in the rest of our region, Axarquia, a part of the Malaga province. Malaga town is vivid, interesting and is filled with cultural and culinary offers. Great shopping as well! Granada (with the magnificent Alhambra less than 1,5 hours drive, Sierra Nevada ski-resort 1,45 min, Cordoba 2 hours.

Go to bars and restaurants with lots of Spaniards, try new food, wine, or queue up for fresh fish at the fishmonger (in Andalusia a queue is not hassle, it is a social occasion!) and make lunch at home. Lunch is nearly a religion and Saturday and Sunday in particular is a social event. Starts at 14 abouts. I say again ENJOY! (Never judge a Spanish town between 14.00 and 17.00. It seems dead but is just because EVERYONE are eating and relaxing.) Velez-Malaga is very quiet in the summer, everyone and their grandmother gravitates towards the sea and Torre del Mar and other coastal towns both daytime and evening/night. Lots of restaurants/ bars and late night open places i Torre del Mar.

We would like people to behave with kindness and respect. Spaniards and Andalusians in particular are very social and accepting (one of many reasons we love it here!) Especially in summer Andaluzes stay up rather late but if you stay in the patio talking ALL night (like we do sometimes) best not shout exactly... Get my drift?

Anette's villa is wonderful. The villa is beautifully decorated historic residence. It's clean, quiet, modern, and airy. The real jewel of the property is Anette herself. She is an exceptionally helpful and friendly conversationalist that enthusiastically offers help and guidance during your stay. Her assimilation in the local culture and participation in the local art scene gives her an insider's insight for what's around town and the Andalucian coast. For those considering other towns .. Velez Malaga is an authentic, friendly spanish town with many food, nightlife, and shopping amenities. The picturesque town is very walkable and has a number of attractions. That said, it's also very close to beaches and touristy destinations making it an excellent place to launch day trips along the Andalucian coast. I have travelled several months travelling at this point and have stayed at many very nice airbnbs. This is my favourite. I will be returning :) Thanks Anette!

If you are reading this review, do not hesitate another moment to book time at Anette's! From the first moment we met her she was warm, genuine and welcoming. The house is truly amazing and is beyond words. Great layout, beautifully decorated with fabulous art throughout. It is such a comfortable place that it is difficult to describe! I think my favorite part of the house is the courtyard-- no, maybe the kitchen... :o) Great shower and water pressure. Bed and pillows were soooo comfortable and there was a beautiful breeze throughout the house. Anette is a truly remarkable host. She immediately made us feel at home and helped us settle in and acclimate to our new surroundings. She gave us great suggestions for dinner, tapas and day trips and even arranged for a tour guide to take us to a local Flamenco show which was fantastic! We loved our time there so much that we are trying to rearrange our schedule to come back at the end of our tour of Spain-- that is if she has room for us... We are even thinking about planning a family trip to Anette's with the entire crew. She has plenty of rooms available if we book enough in advance. Seriously, DONT MISS THIS ONE!!!!

I feel extremely lucky to have spent two super comfortable nights at Annette's gorgeous home in Velez Malaga! Annette kindly accepted my last minute booking and was a first class host. Her and her husband made me feel very welcome and at home. The property is utterly STUNNING and the location is fantastic. Highly recommended.

We were 3 generations, 3 children and 6 adults, who spent a week in Anette's lovely house in Velez. The 3 floor house Is perfect for a big group of people. We loved the big kitchen/living room, the patios, the different bedrooms, the mix of Spanish and Scandinavian styles. It is what I would call a 'feel good' house. And I lost my heart to Velez. We spent quite some time walking the streets of Velez, and it took us a couple of days to find our way around town, part of the fun! With the seaside only 6 km away, this is the perfect place to be all year round. In Anette's absence we were welcomed to the house by sweet Carmen who showed us the house, and then gave us a tour of the town to show us where the shops, baker, and restaurants were. Monday evening we had Paella Night with Anette's friend from Valencia, Maribel, who came round the house together with Carmen and made the best paella I have ever tasted! What a fantastic evening! Anette was extremely helpful throughout the whole period, she helped with transport, she recommended a great restaurant where we celebrated my birthday, she suggested a small hotel round the corner for my sister and husband, who preferred the slightly more quiet solution (without my grandchildren ;o). A big thanks to Anette, Carmen and Maribel for making this a very special stay! Kirsten & Family

Anette was an amazing host!! Extremely helpful and kind! I was in a pinch and needed an Airbnb quickly and she was able to accommodate when other plans fell through. She has a wealth of knowledge and a great group of friends who have a plethora of information when needed and will go through great lengths to make sure you are getting the best deal possible in any situation. The villa is absolutely amazing and the pictures don't do it justice. The open floor plan gave me a warm, peaceful and welcoming feeling. Each room has a different color which adds to its beauty and mystique. The library was my favorite area because you could sit on the couch with the window open and get a cool breeze while enjoying a relaxing siesta or just having a seat while on your computer. It was a phenomenal experience and I would definitely visit again!!

We were 10 Danish adult friends spending 5 perfect days in september 2016, at Anettes lovely place i Vélez-Málaga. Anette is a fantastic host, very welcoming, helpfull and great fun. The house is even nicer than shown on the Airbnb pages. Very clean, spacey and well furnished with lot's of fine paintings and lokal art. We loved the three patios, where we spend almost all the time when at home. Anette arranged a lovely paella dinner, with her friend from Valencia, Maribel, they cooked the most perfect seafood-paella, at home in Casa Lella. Vélez-Málaga is a very nice an quiet town with good restaurants and very friendly people. Since it was rather hot while we were visiting, we spend daytime at the beach in Torre del Mar. Wellkept, clean beaches, very nice water and fine, cheap beach restaurants. We all highly recommend a stay at Casa Lella, an will definitely be back. Sincerely, on behalf of the group Mette Toft Nørgaard
