Stanley goose cottage is a gorgeous retreat in a beautiful part of the world. It is very thoughtfully equipped and organised, and Lee & Rob are generous hosts who will start your fire while you're out sightseeing, eating & drinking (plenty of all those good thing things within a short drive!) so you come home to a cosy warm cottage. They also provide masses of info on the area's multitude of attractions. We loved the geese and the wild life and the detox box sauna. And being able to walk to the Stanley pub for dinner. Our only regret is that we didn't plan to be here for longer. Next time we'll stay at least 4 days and bring our bikes. Thanks Lee & Rob for a great stay at your lovely place- Megan & Ross

We had our second stay at Stanley Goose and had a great time once again. Our first was 3 & 1/2 years ago during summer. A very cosy cottage any time of the year. Rob and Lee are wonderful hosts.

Stanley Goose Cottage was the perfect place for our relaxing weekend getaway. Nicely tucked away and quiet but only a short walk to a beautiful little pub and a short drive to Beechworth. It was great to arrive to a toasty warm cottage - the fire having being lit before we arrived - and the fire was reset each afternoon ready for us to light as the sun went down. Will definitely be recommending to others!!

Response from Lee:
Thank you David - we enjoyed having you both stay, you're so quiet, we didn't even know you were here. Stanley turned on perfect weather for you too! Cold nights and frosty mornings but beautiful sunny days. Our location is definitely quiet and peaceful, but as you said in your review, only a short walk to the Stanley Pub and a scenic 10 minute drive to vibrant Beechworth. We're pleased you enjoyed your stay and you're both welcome back anytime.

What a truly beautiful spot. It was chilly at night outside but the cottage was so cosy and stayed warm all night even when it was -3! Warm sunny days having breakfast on the sunny outdoor area watching the Geese was amazing and lots of great local food. Can't wait to go back! Great hosts too.

Wonderfully secluded, beautifully decorated and maintained. A modern cottage with a historic feel, gorgeous porch with view. Loved it.

Response from Lee:
Thank you for your lovely review Nia. We hope you and your sister had a rewarding time researching your family history at the Burke Museum and that you both also enjoyed absorbing the literary atmosphere of High Tea with Rosalie Ham at the Poets, Readers and Writers (WRAP) festival. We thoroughly enjoyed having you both share our property.

Rob and I bought our property in Stanley in 1991 and have lovingly regenerated and revegetated it on an ongoing basis from a disused apple orchard to a haven for native birds and animals.

No harsh chemicals or pesticides have been used on our property for over 25 years. The Cottage is eco-friendly (inside and out) and only natural cleaning and laundry products are used.

We love harvesting our vegie patch, picking fresh fruit, cooking/preserving using our own produce, waking to the melodious sound of native birds, watching our beautiful geese and enjoying the company of family and friends.

Life Motto? - live simply, enjoy fully, relax completely.
