Family friendly, comfortable, converted piggery located on the edge of a serene village in the beautiful Dordogne. There are shops within walking distance, but the property is quiet as a whisper and has expansive views over the valley.
Great for holidaying alone or for 2 families wanting to holiday together, we rent the house next door too, see our listing called La garanne (sleeps 8). The piggery is recently renovated and only 10 mins walk to the village.

The porcherie is a wonderful place for a small group. We stayed as four adults and a baby, and it was perfect. The 180° views of rolling countryside have to be experienced to understand how beautifully peaceful the location is. Being on the edge of the small town/village with all the amenities you need (bakery and supermarket for us) makes it more convenient than you could expect from somewhere that feels so isolated.

Rachel's house is a charming place, very quiet. Finding a dishwasher was also for us a very good surprise. Unfortunately, the Wifi encountered some problems when we were there (there was a big thunder storm the week before which damaged the box) but John made his best to help. Finaly, we mostly did without it. Let's say it was a good opportunity to disconnect a bit !

We were attending a family wedding at a nearby chateau and we stayed at La Porcherie for a week. What a fabulous gite! Well appointed, comfortable and beautifully finished to a high standard with everything you need, down to some fresh provisions on arrival. The surrounding countryside is gorgeous, peaceful and serene. Rachel was very helpful before we arrived with plenty of local information and the chance to chat via email for further guidance. Finding the key was easy. Leaving it on departure was difficult as we didn't want to go! The area is quiet with Payzac village a short walk, offering shops and a restuarant. The area has lots to offer visitors of all ages although a car is essential. Thank you Rachel, hopefully we will be back soon.

The place is amazing, absolutely stunning location and though you are on the edge of a village you feel like you are in the middle of nowhere. The heating was on for us when we arrived late at night and there was even bread, milk and a few other little bits left! Highly recommended.

Lovely place in beautiful surroundings near quiet little village. Perfect for us as we were visiting friends nearby. Very hot 34 - 36 degrees so would have benefitted from air conditioning whilst we were there.

Response from Rachel:
We're glad you had a good time Hazel. While we understand that it was hot while you were there , We hope you can understand that Air conditioning is a huge expense and not easy to install on an old stone cottage without destroying the look of the place and for the few days per year it may be needed it seems a little over the top. We spend every summer there and haven't found that it is needed. We have however bought some new fans and had planned to install shutters anyway next month which will help for those odd exceptionally hot days.

I am originally from UK, and now live in Sydney with my family. Our house in France was my Dads and it holds so many happy memories and peaceful vibes. We love to be able to share those with everybody and we've been so touched by all the lovely messages we have received from guests after they arrive telling us how pleased they are, and how relaxed they feel. We don't get to visit as often as we'd like but when we do it is magical and the house is comfortable at any time of the year.
