The space
“Un Tetto di Stelle” is situated within the National Park of “Appennino Lucano” and more specifically near to the village of Sasso di Castalda (Potenza). It is surrounded by mountains, forests, vast green fields and is located in a pristine environment.
In fact, the entire area is protected and preserved. Each visitor can still listen to the sounds of nature, “smell” its scents and immerse yourself in a world of peace and tranquillity.

If you visit us, you will meet our special neighbours: Mrs. Cow and Mr. Lamb; Mrs. Owl and Mr. Hawkeye; Mrs. Crow and Mr. Dormouse. Of course, they are not alone. On the contrary they are accompanied by a huge variety of other animals and plants that are an integral part of the rich flora and fauna that exist in the area.

The house is surrounded by a big garden full of oaks, chestnut trees, fruit trees, lots of relaxing surroundings and areas for children.

It has three bedrooms and each one has its own private bathroom. Each room has a different colour that recalls those you can see from our porch during night and day and they are dedicated to our closest animals.

In the house there is everything you need for a pleasant stay such as a TV, a radio, a fireplace, a computer, DVDs and a super-equipped kitchen, etc. There is also a common area for all guests which is by the entrance/living room. In the kitchen we serve breakfast in the winter or in case of inclement weather while, in summer, our guests can enjoy eating outside in the garden.

In the living room there is a magnificent fireplace that, besides heating the room, enchants our brave travellers. Spend your time reading some of the books we have or play some of our games. There is something to do young or old.

Our house is located in Contrada Isca Colonia, in the National Park of “Appennino Lucano”, it is a short distance from the skiing facility of “Sellata Pierfaone” and from the imposing “Beech of St. Michael”.This last one is situated in the beech forest of “La Costara”, near the little church, and it is a legendary element of the local culture because, according to the tradition, it reveals the arrival of spring with its early flowering. Moreover, it is also considered as “the father-tree” of our region (Basilicata) thanks to its circumference of about 6 meters and is “only” 300 years old.

The whole area is rich in forests, mountains, green fields and the village of Sasso di Castalda is one of the most characteristic and intact of the Basilicata region. Therefore, we encourage everybody to take a long walk in the village and visit the Church of the Immaculate Conception of San Rocco, the village of Manche, the De Luca Palace and, of course, the skiing facility of “Sellata Pierfaone” in winter and “La Costara.”

Girare il mondo è una delle mie passioni e priorità tanto che, appena posso, mi piace lasciare la mia città natale ed andare alla scoperta di luoghi e culture diverse. In questi anni ho avuto la fortuna di visitare diversi Paesi, anche piuttosto lontani ed ognuno mi ha dato qualcosa in più, ha arricchito il mio bagaglio culturale e conoscitivo. Anche quando le esperienze sono state lunghe e difficili, quando il mondo che si è aperto davanti ai miei occhi era estraneo ed ostile, il desiderio di conoscere e penetrare le culture altrui ha avuto la meglio. Solo in questo modo ho potuto capire la storia, le usanze ed i modi di fare e di pensare altrui e sono stata pronta a percepire tutto ciò che volesse svelarsi a me. I miei viaggi sono stati tutti improntati sulla conoscenza vera di un posto e dei suoi abitanti. Per questo, ho osservato il loro modo di vivere e quando è stato possibile né ho condiviso usi e costumi. Ho provato ad integrarmi con il mondo ospitante e spero che chi vorrà venire a trovarmi possa fare lo stesso, condividendo con me e la mia famiglia, le usanze e le tradizioni del popolo lucano a cui appartengo. Per me, sarebbe un piacere poter mostrare le bellezze della mia terra, la generosità della sua gente e, naturalmente, far gustare la sua cucina. Cos’altro aggiungere?
