The space

Large private retreat in amazing location. Comfortably sleeps 4. The space is a granny flat (basement apartment) below our Midcentury Ranch style home, so you will hear the sounds of a small family and small dog living upstairs with squeaky hardwood floors. Large egress windows throughout.
We believe in a good night's sleep so each bedroom has a luxe queen bed (a new Casper(!) and a Memory Foam) with fresh linens, down comforters, down pillows, lavender aromatherapy, light blocking curtains and Soundspa sound machines. Full kitchen with fridge, convection oven and stove. French press, toaster, blender, drip coffee maker, tea kettle, hair dryer, Graco Pack & Play and Bright Starts booster seat are provided. Many little luxuries are provided including local Portland coffee and Steven Smith tea.
Large living room has a TV with Apple TV, DVDs, a record player, books for children and adults, games, magazines and more.
Complimentary wi-fi. Vintage Maytag Washer & Dryer. Family friendly.
Massage therapist available by request.

Guest access

Free street parking in front of the house. Keypad entry.

Interaction with guests

You will have a separate entrance and privacy. We live upstairs and if you need anything we are here for you. We provide a detailed guest notebook with helpful info and local recommendations. We love to meet fellow members of the Airbnb community and be your Portland super hosts.

Other things to note

We have a small dog who will be in our home or the backyard, not in the apartment. We live upstairs. Some noise does travel both ways.

Had a lovely stay at Allyson's house. The area was a joy - we were a short walk away from Alberta's coffee shops, bars and restaurants. The house itself was really cute with two bedrooms, a welcoming kitchen area and spacious living room. Thanks Allyson for a great stay in Portland.

This home was so cozy and perfect for our short stay in Portland. Everything we wanted to do in the city was a short lyft ride/ walk away. The home itself was also just as pictured with the cutest decor and the beds were so comfy. I would most definitely stay at this home again next time I'm in Portland. Highly recommend!

Allyson And Jose' have gone above and beyond with this space! It is exactly as photographed and described. The self-check in was most convenient for us as we arrived in the late evening. They provide plenty of information on local businesses and activities - including business cards from the establishments. Unfortunately, we were only visiting for 2 days - but were able to walk Alberta St. near the apartment. We rarely heard the family or small dog above us but we are used to Manhattan high rises. Definitely will keep this space in mind if I visit Portland again!

The space was very clean and comfortable. We were attending a workshop over the weekend at the Kennedy School and it was only a short 2 minute walk from the house, it couldn't have been more perfect! Wonderful restaurants within a very short walking distance form the house as well. Allyson and Jose were there immediately when I needed them for a couple very simple things in such a gracious manner. It was a very nice stay at this property.

This was a great place to stay! My friend that I traveled with used to live in Portland so when we were planning our trip, we specifically chose this location based on being close, but not too close (this was a very quiet area) to the Alberta Arts District. We booked it about 6ish months before our trip, but that was mainly because of the solar eclipse, and we were worried that everything would be booked up. The house itself was awesome! It had great reviews, and about a week before our trip I contacted Allyson to check in. She gave me all the necessary info about the house, but also directed me to the airbnb app because they have a full explanation of check in there as well. The place was pretty cool, its a furnished basement of the hosts house. You have your own entryway, access to a full kitchen, washer/dryer, 2 bedrooms, your own bathroom, and a full living room. The space was very comfortable and the hosts were VERY kind. The basement had everything you could ever want and more! There were fans, toothpaste, full shower stuff, even umbrellas, and grocery bags! The hosts left us a full binder with suggestions for food, information about the house, and the city, and even left us a small candle as a goodbye when we left. As for getting out and about, from the house, we mostly drove to places in the area, but it was a very easy/close drive. The house was also very close to bus lines, so it made getting into downtown very easy when we did not feel like driving. The only 2 things that I would change, is the basement basically has no air flow in it. Overall because its the basement its mostly cool, but even the windows dont open to open space because you are basically under ground. I think if you visit in cooler times, it doesnt matter as much, but mid summer, it can be a little stuffy. There are fans but no AC in the space, but that only matters in summer. And in winter there are space heaters and heavy blankets available. The other thing is that the family that lives in the house uses the small hallway to get to their garage, so its not 100% private, but we only heard them use the hallway and did not see the family. Overall though, the space was awesome and if I returned to Portland I would absolutely book this airbnb again!!

Response from Allyson And Jose':
Thank you so much for your kind feedback. To clarify for others, the windows are egress windows, so they have covers to keep the debris out of the window wells. The basement stays significantly cooler than the main floor (most Portlanders sleep in their basements during the handful of hot days in the summer). Since this has been the hottest summer on record, we may consider getting central AC in the future. As for the hallway, it is an outdoor walkway, so once guests are inside the apartment, it is indeed 100% private.
