Rustic farmhouse with a big bright kitchen. Your group will have a wonderful time in this 1850's farmhouse, all to yourselves! Wilderness, wood stove, hiking trails, river tubing, cooking, bonfires, fiction library and more.

The space

This farmhouse sleeps 10 on 5 full beds. Natural setting with trails, river, pond, woods on 23 acres. The bedrooms are connected to each other without a hallway, so you walk through each other's rooms to get to another room. The 1850's charm of this house is accented with bright colors and compelling artwork. The kitchen is a cook's kitchen: plenty of space, and stools around an island for onlooking eaters. Great spot for parties, reunions, respite and fun.

* There are not locks on the doors

Jaquelyn & Rauli’s place was perfect for our needs. A group of us were staying the weekend to cheer on some friends graduating from Goddard, and the place was ideal. More comfortable and convenient than a hotel, plenty of room to have a few extra people over to hang after graduation. Great sound system with an impressive record collection, wifi, and a beautiful kitchen to cook in. I'm going to dream about that stove. We will definitely be returning.

Six friends and I stayed at Jaquelyn and Rauli's place and we would recommend it to any groups who want to make the most of a trip Vermont. Location wise, it was about 45 minutes from the Hill Farmstead Brewery and about 30 minutes from Waterbury, VT, which has some really great restaurants. If you like beer, it would behoove you to visit both. Montpelier was very close as well, which also has great places to eat/drink. While we were only there two days and didn't have much time to explore the outdoors, the Winooski River is right in the backyard and I imagine it's even nicer there in the summer. The house itself was clean and the kitchen is top notch for any groups that plan to cook. There are two bathrooms (very important for groups) with a large tub with jets in the downstairs bathroom that is worth filling up, especially in the colder months. Being an old farmhouse, the bedrooms upstairs are all connected, most separated by doors. Though you have to walk through one to get to the next, everyone felt they had enough privacy and the beds were comfortable. A highlight for us was the record player hooked up to a PA system and a really impressive and eclectic vinyl collection. If your plan is to stay in central Vermont with a group, stay at Jaquelyn and Rauli's place.

I highly recommend this house to anyone who is interested in a classic Vermont getaway. The house is a very cozy, welcoming place, great for hanging out with family and friends. The hosts are nice, accommodating people. Kitchen is well stocked, made a nice group meal while we were there. The price cannot be beat!

A wonderful place. The kids said "This is the coolest house we've ever been in." I only wish we'd had more time to settle in and enjoy the river and surroundings more.

Great, low key experience. Excellent communication, very clean (especially considering how old the home is). Would recommend for those interested in a rustic Vermont experience.

We live and love life, here on 23 acres in Vermont. In addition to serving guests from all over the world at our guest house and campground, we operate an awesome chocolate & granola factory called Nutty Steph's. We love building community and watching the beauty unfold on our land. We also enjoy visiting Puerto Rico, gardening, salsa, good communication, beer, and Jane the Virgin.

Come, enjoy our world. The grounds are magical, filled with trails, creeks, meadows, orchards and a twisty turny bend of the great Winooski River. If you like to prepare and share food, then you will love our kitchen. At the Onion River Farmhouse, enjoy all the comforts of home and expect that you just may venture out into a corner of your wild nature as well. We look forward to hosting you soon!
