Maria facilitated a wonderful stay in Lucerne! We hope to come back and stay at this beautiful B&B again someday. The food was excellent, the beds very comfortable, and Maria offered great recommendations on what to do and see. We especially liked the quiet but convenient location of the B&B - removed from downtown, but there is a bus stop immediately outside and Lucerne public transportation is easy to use. Thank you Maria! We would definitely recommend this place to others.

Quaint airbnb in a very nice neighborhood, away from all the touristy hustle and bustle. We found a beautiful walk suggested by Maria and found live music in a lovely garden with drinks. Bus station is right outside of the location and we got a free bus fare for the duration of our stay. Shared bathroom and toilet but very clean and a lovely breakfast is served every morning!

Maria was a fantastic host, very welcoming and helpful during the stay. She laid on a traditional Swiss breakfast which was tasty, although choice was limited. Maria also went out of her way to advise us where to walk and go in the city and recommended a boat trip which broadened our experience of the area. The town is 10 mins away on the bus and they leave every 7 mins. The chalet has been completely transformed inside and is clean, tidy and modern if not a little poky. As it's a converted chalet navigating around is a little awkward; as a tall chap I had to be careful not to bang my head. The room was more basic than we were expecting and is effectively 2 beds in a relatively sparse room. The furniture is basic but the beds were very comfy and we slept well. You are sharing a toilet and bathroom with another room but both are modern and clean and the shower is good. Overall I would say that Maria's place is worth a stay if you are visiting lucerne for a day or so and using it as a base. It's not somewhere you can get too comfortable, but Maria is lovely and it's worth the stay just for her hospitality.

Maria User ProfileMaria is a superhost.

Hi, I'm Maria
The continuous search for a place to sleep for my Dutch family and friends from all over the world, gave me a long time ago, the idea
to open an overnight accommodation of my own.
But it took several years from the idea to the opening of my own
Bed and Breakfast.
This imagination never got out of my mind, not least because of my own plentiful positive experiences in tourism and travelling.
After completing my apprenticeship as an office administrator I learned the profession of receptionist.
Here I discovered my passion to look after guests and give them a good time. In addition I found the contact with visitors from all over the world and their different languages and cultures fascinating.
After many years of studies I felt the urge to see more of the world.
So I travelled for 4 years, in different countries, got to know
interesting people, cities and cultures.
Finally I fell in love in Lucerne (in the double sense).
Then, when I came here 25 years ago I did not only get to know one of the most beautiful cities in the world but also my husband Roman.
After extensive renovation, which wouldn`t have been possible without the enthusiastic and energetic help from my husband,
we created a B&B in which you, as a guest, hopefully feel as comfortable as I do. With this I hope that the stay of my guests with me in the "Rittershuus" will contribute to your pleasant stay in Lucerne which will stay in your mind for a long time. Welcome!
