Three cottages, each with lake view and shared dock, on pristine, quiet Sand Pond are perfect for a family gathering. Three cottages for one rental, offering privacy and indoor and outdoor space for being together. The main cottage sleeps four, has a full kitchen and a screened-in porch; the two studio cottages have kitchenettes and sleep two. It is not ideal for very young children or for those who have difficulty walking up and down hill on uneven ground. 9% NH Meals & Rental tax applies.

The space
Sand Pond is one of the cleanest lakes in New Hampshire. Loons have been coming to the lake for decades. There is a state boat landing, with a lake host to monitor for invasive species, for easy access. While there are some motor boats, most lake residents and visitors prefer to kayak or canoe. Sailing is an option, but is often challenging.

Crane Cottage, the largest, sleeps 4 and has a full kitchen with dining table for four, bathroom with shower, living room, and screened porch with seating and dining table. There is a bedroom with a queen bed and a picture window looking onto the lake and a small room with two twin beds. There is a full-size refrigerator, full-size range, microwave, toaster, toaster oven, blender, crock pot, and coffeemaker. There are enough dishes, flatware, glasses, pots and pans to cook for and serve at least 8 people.

Mallard and Loon Cottages are studios, each with a double bed, table with chairs, bathroom with shower, and kitchenette. There is a small refrigerator, hot plate, microwave or toaster oven, and coffee maker in each. There are sufficient dishes and pots to cook for at least two people.

Each bed will be made up, with a pillow per person, two for the queen bed. Each guest will have a towel and wash cloth, with each bath having a bath mat and hand towel. There is a fan for the summer and heat for the spring and fall, as well as extra blankets.

There is a large dock, folding chairs, a picnic table, a chimenea, and a charcoal grill.

There is an assortment of books, board games, and puzzles.

There is good cell phone access. There is no WiFi at the cottages, but there is free WiFi at the South Acworth Village Store (10 mi.), which also has breakfast and lunch, a nice selection of beer, local crafts, and is special in that it was started in 1865 and is now community run.

The tap water is delicious to drink.

There is a clothesline.

Infants and children are welcome, but the cottages are not toddler-proofed. The cottages sit on a hillside and are near the lake. There is no beach for wading and is not a good place for children who cannot swim. Parental judgement is needed to determine if this is a good setting for your children. Please let us know if there are children in your group.

Being on a hillside, with uneven ground, this setting may not be comfortable walking for some adults.

Pets are welcome, but guests are responsible for cleaning up after them and for any damage they do inside and outside the cottages. Please let us know if you are bringing pets.

Guest access
The group of three cottages on one property offer quiet privacy as well as indoor and outdoor spaces for group gatherings. Enjoy sitting on the screened porch, on the dock, or around the chiminea.

There is a dock that extends over the water, perfect for jumping off. There is a ladder to climb up and down to the water as well as a small area to walk into the water. This site is delightful for swimmers, boaters, and fishers and those who just want to sit and enjoy the scenery. It is not ideal for very young children or for those who have difficulty walking up and down hill on uneven ground. The state boat landing is .3 miles away for launching a boat from a trailer.

There is a picnic table and a chiminea near the dock, as well as a charcoal grill.

Other things to note
Bordering the Monadnock and Dartmouth/Sunapee regions in southwestern New Hampshire and about a half hour drive from Vermont, there numerous opportunities for sightseeing, hiking, crafts fairs, music, farmers markets, etc., if you can leave the beauty and quiet of the lake.
