Guest access

Our garden is also for guests to enjoy . An additional garden room is also for you to use, with simple cooking facilities and extra space for dining . This room is not heated, therefore we tend to not use it for guests in the winter time .The shower/toilet is exclusively for our visitors , located 10 meters from the hut.

Getting around

Buses to Wells and Weston every hour.
Nearest train station is Yatton ,and there is a lovely cycle path from there to Cheddar ,about 10 miles.
Falcon coach runs from Bristol to Plymouth almost every hour , will stop to pick up and drop off , on the A38 at Shute Shelve . From there it is a pleasant 3 mile walk along a mainly off road route to Cheddar, several of my visitors have used this service to get to us.

Other things to note

Solo Travellers ,I am happy to offer better rates for one guest ,please enquire and I will quote you a price .
There is space in our garden for a small tent or two for extra guests if they wish to camp.
It is now heading into the colder winter months , just to point out to guests ,the only heat source in the hut is the wood stove ,and if you wish to be warm and cosy in there , you will need to manage the fire lighting and keeping it going , a relatively easy task! We supply all the wood etc.

House Rules
No smoking
Check in is anytime after 3PM

Smoking outside is fine. No candles in the hut , it is made of rather a lot of wood

We loved staying in this quirky little hut. You can walk up on to the gorge from the beautiful garden, you can walk down the hill to shops and a range of places to eat and drink. Great location, great value, cosy and relaxed. Chris has even set up a unique little home made cinema... There is great attention to detail and Chris is really friendly and helpful :-)

Charming host, comfortable bed , everything one could wish for. We stayed on a Wednesday night and would highly recommend the thali deal at the Indian restaurant on the corner. We had the best Indian meal ever from there then sat drinking red wine in the evening sun listening to bird song. A very peaceful stopover . thanks Chris you thought of everything.

Such a lovely place, in a centrañ location. The hut was lovely, you had everything you needed and Chris is a really nice host. He told us about the restaurants around, where the supermarkets were, and basicly everything. Highly recommended!

Charming, comfortable and delightfully quirky hut seconds from the centre of Cheddar yet also perched close to the rural walking routes. Perfect for leaving the car in the driveway and exploring on foot. Chris is the perfect host, full of handy tips and advice but also respects guests' privacy. You need to be sure-footed to pick your way through the bushes down a paved slope to the bathroom in the middle of the night, but torches are provided!

We hugely enjoyed our stay in this unusual accommodation. Tucked away in a spacious walled garden in a quiet corner of Cheddar Gorge. Access through a secret door in the wall to a path leading up to a lookout tower built in the the 30's and onwards to further spectacular views over the Gorge. The Hut was surprisingly roomy and we had great nights sleeping. Chris is a perfect host and knowledgeable about his area. If you fancy something different for a change this is a great choice. Regards Robert

If you're looking for simple, rustic and quirky this is the place for you. Books (useful and novels) and maps for walking available. Only very basic cooking equipment available but a variety of eateries very near by.

Chris was a superb host. His hut on the hill was just as described and we couldn't have asked for a more cosy getaway! He was helpful with local knowledge and very relaxed with our dog being around! Thanks again! Joss and Henry

Hi There , I live right next to Cheddar Gorge in an old cottage with my teenage daughter and various animals. I love the outdoors ,cycling, walking ,camping or just lazing in the sunshine. We live in such a lovely place, it seemed the obvious thing to do was to accept guests from around the world to share this beautiful countryside on our doorstep. I have a relaxed approach to hosting , happy to give advice about things to do and see ,or just to let you discover for yourselves what is out there. I have spent a large part of my life in the cycle trade so bike repairs is second nature to me ,I also enjoy working with natural elements of wood and stone.
I do not own a smartphone at the moment so it can sometimes take a few hours for me to respond to a request, so please be patient!
