Menorca was our first stop this holiday (July 2015), and we browsed Airbnb for a nice house for our family of four. Two adults and two kids aged 10 and 13. We have never been to Menorca before, and Santo Thomas was actually a "shot in the dark". But we were so happy about the stay!
The house was exactly like in the description and images, and our host Marga was very helpful and answered all our questions within a day, or sometimes even a few minutes. Unfortunately, we didn't realize before the end of our stay that Marga is a living encyclopedia for the island! That was our biggest mistake, and we recommend future guests to ask her for some "secret" Menorca tips!
This villa is not the cheapest for four, but worth every cent in our opinion. Nice and clean, fresh pool, spacious rooms, air condition in every sleeping room, private parking in the shadow and silent surroundings. Three large bedrooms, two bathrooms, kitchen, living room and of course the terrace and garden/pool area. I would say that this villa accommodates 6 persons, not 7 as in the description. Both dishwasher and washing machine is available, which is really convenient when you're on holiday. Internet connection was a bit on-and-off, which is annoying if you try to do some work.
Santo Tomas was a perfect "hub" for our Menorca holiday. We had a rental car, and it only took about 30-40 minutes driving to most places on the island: Ciutadella, Mahon, the airport, Fornells, Cala Galdana and Cala en Porter - just to mention a few. We did most of our shopping at the local supermarket, but the prices is a bit higher compared to larger cities/towns. We recommend "Binipreu Menorca" (close to the airport) for more serious shopping (food and drinks, sports gear, swimming gear…).
Santo Tomas a village made for tourism, and don't expect to find many locals here. Actually, only a handful (100) of people live here.
To summarize: excellent host, nice villa and a small and quiet village. Without a car, we would have chosen a larger village than Santo Tomas mid-July, but as a “hub” it’s perfect. If we go back to Menorca in the future, we would definitely check with Marga if this property is available!
